We hope you are having a great start to winter and are finding plenty of time to get outside! This December, consider an end-of-year donation to Whitefish Legacy Partners in support of conservation, education, and recreation on our local lands. Thanks for another great year and enjoy the WT with friends and family this holiday season!
Happy holidays from WLP!
This holiday season we are celebrating our local trail, open space, and YOU - our donors, volunteers and partners. Thank you for supporting conservation, education, and recreation on the Whitefish Trail this year. We hope your holidays are filled with joy, love, and snowy trails!
Did you enjoy the Whitefish Trail this year?
Consider an end-of-year donation
The Whitefish Trail and our local conservation lands would not exist without each of you - our donors. Make a lasti ng investment in the future of our local lands, and help us in 2019. WLP is working hard to permanently protect Smith Lake, connect our conservation lands with more trail, and engage more people outside with free outdoor education programs and guided hikes.

Today's snowfall was a welcomed surprise! Let's hope winter sticks around for a few days to make our cozy mountain town feel more like home for the end of December. The trail has been a bit indecisive lately. This week, hard-packed and snowy trails turned to patches of ice and mud before drying out to dirt and pine needles. With today's snow, the trail is back to snow-packed conditions. Be mindful of changing weather and check with Old Man Winter before you head out on your next trail adventure. Thanks to Cricket Butler from the Whitefish Bike Retreat for these contrasting photos from yesterday and today. You never know what adventure awaits on the Whitefish Trail!

Winter storms have toppled a few trees between Skyles and Beaver Lakes, and we will work to get those cleared as soon as we can. Glacier Nordic Club has started grooming the XC ski trails at the Big Mountain Trailhead, and we appreciate all their efforts to maintain these trails during the winter. Since the XC trails at the golf course have not opened, please be mindful of the busy trailhead and carpool when possible. Remember to stay in your lane to protect the classic tracks and groomed skate skiing zone. Most importantly, have fun enjoying this FREE community resource!

As the year winds down, we sincerely thank all of our donors, volunteers, and project partners that make it all possible. Without you, we would not have 42 miles of trail connecting thousands of acres of conservation land in our backyard. We also would not have vibrant education programs and school field trips that get our youth unplugged and outside exploring nature. Thank you for continuing to support our important work, especially as we look forward to protecting Smith Lake in the coming years. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season with friends and family!
