HR NEWS

Find Help Fast: Easier Access to Workday Job Aids

When you’re stuck in Workday, the last thing you need is a scavenger hunt for instructions. That’s why we’ve made it easier than ever to find how-to guides (what we call Support Resources) all in one place. You’ll now see clearly organized listings of videos, job aids, and quick guides designed to help you complete your tasks with confidence.

Bookmark it once—use it forever.

Save the Workday Support Resources page on the HR website for instant access. Resources are grouped by category, so you can quickly locate the one you need.

If you forget to bookmark it, no problem — just go to ACC’s main webpage and search Workday Job Aids. (And if you’re using old bookmarks, please delete them — they’ve been updated!)

Already in Workday?

You can get to Support Resources directly from your Workday Home page in either of these two ways:

  • Option 1: Open the Menu (top left corner), go to Personal, and select Workday Support Resources. From there, click the link to visit the HR website’s Workday page for all available Job Aids and videos.
  • Option 2: Go to Drive on your Profile. Clicking Drive will pull up the same support resources.

Need a quick refresher? Check out this short tutorial on how to access Support Resources. If you still can’t find what you need, submit a TDX support ticket—we’ll help you get there.

We’re always expanding and improving our Job Aid library. If there’s a topic you’d like to see added, please let us know.

First Aid for Mental Health

Be the help someone needs before it’s too late.

You know how to stop a cut from bleeding — but what about the wounds you can’t see? Learning to recognize the signs of a developing mental health or substance use issue, and knowing how to offer initial support, could truly save a life.

ACC is offering two more in-person Mental Health First Aid courses this year, and all faculty and staff are encouraged to attend:

  • Nov. 21 – Hays Campus
  • Dec. 5 – NRG Campus

Each session runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Professional Development credit is available.

TDX is Here! Your New HR Support System

Two days into using Team Dynamics (TDX) instead of Mojo for support requests, it appears all is running smoothly. It looks like employees are finding the new system intuitive and easy to navigate, which is fantastic news.

Key Reminders for HR Support Requests

  • All new requests for HR support should now be submitted through TDX.
  • Mojo Phase-Out: Mojo will remain open for a couple more weeks only to close out existing tickets. If you submitted a ticket in Mojo, your response will come from Mojo.
  • Mojo Closure: After November 14, any tickets still unresolved in Mojo will need to be re-entered as a new request in TDX. Please check on your open Mojo tickets before this date!

Ending email tickets

Requests for service sent to HR email addresses (including HRSupport@) is being retired. Starting next week, you may receive an auto-reply directing you to TDX instead.

TDX will do a much better job ensuring your questions and requests are answered quickly and correctly. Thank you for your patience and for embracing TDX as we all get used to the new system!

MEET THE HR TEAM

Kim Akalski

Benefits and Accommodations Coordinator

As ACC's Benefits and Accommodations Coordinator for the past 19 months, Kim supports employees through life’s unexpected moments by guiding them through medical leave and workplace accommodation requests. We asked her tell us more about her job, and to give us some glimpses of her life outside of work.

How do approach the work you do?

My goal is to ensure employees feel informed and supported, while helping the college remain compliant with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I manage the full FMLA process – from the initial request to the return-to-work stage and partner with employees and supervisors during the ADA interactive process to identify reasonable accommodations. At the heart of my work is helping employees balance their health, work, and personal responsibilities, while fostering a caring, compliant, and supportive workplace.

How did you get into HR as a career?

I started my HR career back in 2007 when I lived in San Diego working as a Benefits Specialist at a Biomedical Research Facility, The Scripps Research Institute. This is where my love for HR grew and I have been in this field ever since.

How do you think your job contributes to student success?

Although my work focuses on supporting employees, it directly impacts student success. By helping faculty and staff navigate medical leaves and workplace accommodations, I ensure they have the support and flexibility they need to focus on their health and return

to work ready to give their best.

When employees feel valued, supported, and cared for, they’re better able to create a positive learning environment for students. In short, by taking care of our employees, we help create the conditions that allow students to thrive.

What is your favorite ACC Value and what does it mean to you?

Caring, compassion, and joy are definitely my favorite ACC values! I love being able to support employees through challenging situations with understanding, kindness, and empathy. I didn’t include “yes”—because in my role, I can’t always say it—but even when the

answer has to be “no,” I try to handle every situation with care and compassion.

If you could wave a magic wand, what would you wish for?

If I could wave a magic wand, I would wish for a world without homelessness or illness—and maybe, while I’m at it, to finally clear up the traffic on I-35.

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?

I grew up in San Diego, California, and my love for the ocean has stayed with me ever since. I’m scuba certified and have always dreamed of working with orcas. From surfing and water skiing to swimming and jet skiing -- if it involves the water, I’m all in!

Kim may never find orcas in Austin (or a traffic-free I-35, for that matter), but we're sure glad to have her!
