Introducing Ask Me Anything ... LIVE!
Inviting all Riverbat Faculty and Staff to our new AMAs
| | |
Last year, your HR team's focus was on resetting and stabilizing our processes while modernizing our infrastructure to better meet your needs and those of the College.
This year, we're shifting our focus to reconnecting with you and building trust. We aim to ensure operational excellence in everything we do, guided by data.
As you may have experienced, the entire HR department visits a different campus each month for our “Open Door” event, where we enjoy engaging transparently and personally with local faculty and staff. We truly appreciate your positive feedback about our presence during these visits, or from your campus’ HR Business Partner liaison. The feeling is mutual!
This year, we're excited to introduce a monthly HR AMA LIVE! (Ask Me Anything) series. These events will still take place on a different campus each month, but we’ll also livestream them. Each session will feature a different topic and, often, a special guest.
Our first HR AMA will be at Elgin Campus on October 9 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Watch the video for a tease to October's Hot Topic!

Special guest Cara Crowley, Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Student Basic Needs, will join me to discuss bullying and other subjects in our AMA.
You can view the campus visit schedule here. And, we'll be sending invitations to each AMA so you can put it on your calendar. We hope you will join us, whether in person or online!

A New FAQ to Answer your Hiring Questions
You're already short on time, and now you have to remember the steps to go through to hire a new employee. HR to the rescue! We've developed a new set of FAQ's that cover everything from creating a requisition to bringing your new hire onboard. We've also added a page to our website that contains dozens of Workday Job Aids to help you finish tasks you're not familiar with. Check them out and if you have a subject you want us to add, click on the Share an Idea button at the bottom of this newsletter.
Here's one question we get a lot:
How do I find a list of job profiles?
If you are looking for a specific position, such as a list of Assistants, type “Job: Assistant” into the Workday search bar.
To find job profiles listed by job family, category, or management level, select the “Find Job Profile” report in Workday. The left-hand menu allows you to choose the relevant categories. You can then select individual job descriptions to view them. Select the Compensation tab to view the pay grade associated with each position.
Let us know if the new FAQs are helpful!

Roll Up Your Sleeves!
Flu Shot Clinics will open on ACC campuses during the first two weeks of October. Please sign up for an appointment so you're ready when the vax crew rolls up to your campus. Walk-ins will be welcome, but organizers may decide to cancel a clinic if there aren't enough sign-ups.
You will need your health and prescription insurance information and a government ID. Call your insurance provider or H-E-B Pharmacy if you have questions about coverage.
COVID and other vaccination options are also available on request.

Mayor's Health and Well-Being Council Board Chair Trè McCalister presents a Gold Level Certification plaque to ACC Wellness Coordinator Mauri Winters. | |
ACC Recognized for Wellness Efforts
The Mayor’s Health & Well-Being Council recognized ACC for its commitment to workplace health and well-being in a ceremony at Austin City Hall recently. These awards and certifications spotlight organizations implementing best practices to create workplaces that promote health and well-being.
ACC Wellness Coordinator Mauri Winters accepted the Gold Level Certification award on behalf of ACC. "ACC's success depends on the health and well-being of its employees," Mauri said. "Healthy employees are happy employees, and happy employees are more productive. We all win when we focus on our health."

Deborah Massaro
GIS/Digital Information Manager
When space at ACC needs to be reimagined or a campus needs 3D image modeling or drone photography, Deborah Massaro is on the job. She had a big hand in the interactive wayfinding campus app that rolled out a few weeks ago. Deborah also supervises a team composed entirely of current or former ACC students.
"That's what we're most proud of - giving back and solving problems that we've all experienced ourselves," she said. "We want our students to succeed, and one way that we can help is by hiring interns who can work in the field they are studying in and get relevant jobs after college. We have anywhere from 5-9 interns at a time, and we let each of them be a part of the big projects that give them great experience."
Aziz Hussaini, interim Vice Chancellor of Finance and Construction, is Deborah's supervisor. He says her positivity is contagious. "It's hard to tell if Deb is ever having a bad day, because her approach to being positive is consistent."

Alita Davis Robins could hardly believe she got the question right and that she'd won some pretty cool HR swag.
Alita was one of a number of employees who greeted us and played our "How much do you know about HR?" game during the all-HR visit to the Rio Grande campus last week. Monthly visits to each of the campuses help HR stay connected to the people it serves and give us a chance for some off-site professional development. Special thanks to Mike Midgley, Special Advisor to the Chancellor, for inspiring us on our journeys as individuals and the college as a whole toward excellence!
Thank you for your hospitality, Rio Grande!
