As an HR Manager years back, an employee named Sarah came to me during annual evaluation season upset by feedback from her supervisor to "smile more" on her annual evaluation. Despite her strong overall performance and recognition for her accomplishments, this feedback left her feeling deflated and confused.


After further discussion, it became clear that her supervisor saw potential for Sarah in a more customer-facing role and wanted to encourage her to foster a more welcoming environment. To address this, the supervisor amended the feedback, highlighting the importance of creating a friendly and approachable atmosphere for effective communication and career growth. They also reviewed anonymized customer feedback together to brainstorm ways to enhance the customer experience.


As we gear up for PEP season in two weeks, it's time to start considering how you can integrate best practices to ensure optimal outcomes, while aligning with our Values and driving toward our North Star goal.

HR NEWS

HR Business Partners Set Schedule for Campus Visits


Employees will have the opportunity to meet our new HR Business Partners as they begin their campus visits in early July.


An hour has been carved out for staff and faculty at each campus to attend a Q-and-A session. The Partners will explain their role in serving as liaisons between the HR home office at Highland and ACC's 10 other campuses, then they'll open up the floor for questions. Light refreshments provided.

It's Almost Time for Open Enrollment!


The window for changing insurance plans and benefits is June 24 through July 5, 2024. Unless you have a qualifying event (like getting married or having a new baby), this is the only opportunity all year to make changes.


If you want everything to stay the same, you don't have to do anything. But here is some important information for ACC employees who do want to make changes.

Annisha Morgan has served Student Affairs in various roles for many years. Currently, she supervises of a team of eight transcript evaluators and a student records assistant. The Transcript Evaluation Office reviews thousands of incoming college transcripts every year.


"Annisha demonstrates all the characteristics of an exceptional servant leader by providing quality customer care to every aspect of her work," supervisor Glynis Miller said. "She is focused and embraces her assignment of duties with vigor and enthusiasm while leading her team with confidence and joy."

ACC department chairs keep Jennifer Uptmore on speed dial. They call on her for help navigating hiring processes for both full-time faculty and adjunct faculty. She also gets new adjunct faculty members lined up with HR onboarding and orientation. She answers faculty applicant questions and manages faculty credentials.
