Summer is in full swing with the Capital Prep Harbor team prepping for the new school year!

Over the next few weeks we will send important reminders for events, school projects, and paperwork that needs to be submitted for your child to be fully registered and assigned a class schedule.

This week's newsletter includes: 1) Transportation Eligibility Update, 2) Senior Night and 3) Uniform Requirements.

Transportation Eligibility Update!
In our last newsletter we shared the new criteria set forth by the City of Bridgeport Board of Education regarding transportation.

Only those scholars who live 1.5 miles (Middle School, for us 7-8) and 2.25 miles (High School 9-12) in Bridgeport from the school (777 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT) will be provided busing.

All Capital Preparatory Harbor scholars are required to wear our standard uniform every day. This uniform is an important part of our school culture, not only representing our school values, but also allowing our scholars to focus on academics instead of fashion stigmas.

Please make sure you have ordered your uniform for the 2019 - 2020 with our vendor, Superior Knicker.

Additionally, uniform shoes are not provided by our vendor and will have to be purchased separately. All scholars are required to wear all black, leather, dress shoes with laces with their uniforms. Black sneakers are not acceptable.

For the 2019-2020 school year, Capital Prep Harbor Upper School will be following a new schedule and adding mandatory academic support office hours.

The office hours are designed for students that may need additional help in a particular subject, with the goal to have successful completion of their coursework for the Quint and School Year.

 If your child is assigned to attend office hours, they are mandatory, and attendance will be taken as if they were any other class.

The new schedule is as follows:
School Hours: 7:30-3pm (previously 3:30)
Academic Support Office Hours: 3pm-4pm (new)
Sports Team Practice: 4pm-Until

Please note: This change is effective for the Upper School Campus Only.

This is required project for all scholars due August 12th at 7:30am.

Just before the school year ended, we shared the 2019 Summer Learning Project with all scholars. The intent of this project is to keep students progressing academically and keep their minds growing as they create lifelong study habits and work ethic. Current research points out that programs infused with these types of projects reduce summer learning loss. It is the duty of educators and families to ensure that our scholars are constantly growing and progressing academically. I can’t wait to see your hard work!
