HarborPath President Ken Trogdon meets with Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman

I recently wrapped up an inspiring few days in Nashville at the Rx and Illicit Drug Summit. Each year I leave more motivated than the last. It was a privilege to reconnect with so many leaders dedicated to reversing the overdose crisis, including Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, who has been a strong voice for smart, life-saving policies.

From exploring how schools can manage prevention programs to learning about the power of faith communities and data-driven naloxone distribution, this year’s conversations underscored a clear message: progress happens through collaboration.

At HarborPath, our mission is simple: to put naloxone within arm’s reach of anyone at risk of an overdose. That goal felt more urgent than ever after hearing about the innovative approaches being utilized across the country – including the work done by ODRescue Box.

Thank you to the organizers, presenters and advocates who put on this event and are working to turn the tide.

-Ken Trogdon, President of HarborPath

High cost of naloxone prompts rural Arkansas pharmacists to keep life-saving medicine behind counter:

"The life-saving medicine naloxone was approved for nonprescription sale more than two years ago, but many rural Arkansas pharmacies still keep the overdose-reversal kit behind the counter." Read the full article from Arkansas Advocate.

Ken's Take: While we have thankfully seen a decline in overdose deaths in the U.S., some people have the mistaken impression that naloxone is now widely available to those who need it. In reality, as this article points out, life-saving doses of naloxone are often locked up behind pharmacy counters. We must do more to make sure this lifesaving medication is in the hands of those who need it when a life is on the line.

Jordan Watkins drafted by San Francisco 49ers: Congratulations to Jordan Watkins on being drafted into the NFL! We were proud to work with Jordan and other athlete influencers at Ole Miss in order to spread the word on the dangers of fentanyl on college campuses and distribute naloxone.
