City Hall Baffle Box
This week, crews poured asphalt in the City Hall overflow parking lot, marking one of the final steps in the cleanup and restoration phase of the baffle box project.
With the parking lot restoration nearly complete, the project is entering its final stages.
The new stormwater baffle box will help improve water quality by capturing debris, sediment, and pollutants before they enter the City's stormwater system and the Indian River Lagoon.
Thank you for your patience throughout construction as we complete this important infrastructure improvement for our community.

What Is a Baffle Box?
A baffle box is an underground stormwater treatment structure designed to improve water quality before stormwater enters nearby waterways, including the Indian River Lagoon.
How it works:
- Captures trash, leaves, and other floating debris carried by stormwater.
- Traps sediment, sand, and grit before they enter the stormwater system.
- Helps reduce pollutants that can negatively impact water quality.
- Slows the flow of stormwater, allowing heavier materials to settle out.
- Improves the quality of stormwater discharged into local waterways.
- Supports the City's ongoing efforts to protect the Indian River Lagoon and the surrounding environment.
