City Council Meeting Recap

Missed the latest City Council meeting? Here’s a quick look at some of the actions and discussions from September 15.

Council reached consensus to allow the City Manager to adopt the City’s updated Employee Handbook.

The previously planned Property Tax Reform Workshop was canceled, and the Council discussed creating an informational one-sheet to provide residents with information about property taxes. That one-sheet has since been completed and is now available for residents to pick up at all City buildings.

Council also officially adopted the millage rate and budget for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, approved the City’s 2027 Legislative Priorities, and adopted a resolution regarding the Brevard County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Council also discussed allowing catch-and-release fishing at Gleason Park on a trial basis. By a 3-2 vote, Council directed staff to bring back a resolution establishing designated fishing areas and parameters for a trial period.
