Hardpoint eSports Enters PCA Pro GT3 Cup Series iRacing Championship with Chris Walsh, Cameron Martineau

Walsh and Martineau Will Lead Hardpoint’s eSports Team Through Pro eSports Championship That Mirrors Porsche Carrera Cup North America Calendar
DANVILLE, Virginia (February 17, 2022) – Hardpoint’s eSports team has accepted an invitation to participate in the PCA Pro GT3 Cup Series sponsored by Porsche for the 2022 season, utilizing Hardpoint eSports drivers Chris Walsh and Cameron Martineau for the seven event, 14-race Championship that closely mirrors the real-life Porsche Carrera Cup North America championship.

Walsh and Martineau, with Jacob Tofts on standby as a substitute driver, will compete in the Pro Class of the championship conducted on the iRacing platform utilizing the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 922 car. The season opens on Thursday, March 10 at the virtual version of Sebring International Raceway, exactly one week before its counterpart holds its season opening races at the same track during the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend.

Walsh, an active duty Air Force member, heads up the Hardpoint eSports team, which includes weekly Happy Hour session on iRacing open to all fans and iRacing competitors. Walsh began racing in 2019 and made his professional racing debut in 2021 in SRO Motorsports competition, capturing a podium in his first race.

With more than 250 race wins and two series Championships ,Martineau holds an iRating of over 6,000 on the iRacing platform. He won the Ricmotech CSS GS Open Championship in his first season and most recently won the 2021 Sim Lab Production Car Challenge Championship. Away from the virtual world, Martineau is an active kart racer and is a mechanical engineer in the automotive field.
Walsh and Tofts teamed up to compete in the Creventic Endurance series in the Porsche Cayman GT4 in 2021, winning the season-long championship.

“I’m excited, along with Cameron and Jacob, to represent Hardpoint in the PCA Pro GT3 Cup Series this season,” Walsh said. “We’re working hard to grow the eSports program alongside the on-track product at Hardpoint, and know we’re in for some stout competition in this league.”

Hardpoint joins rival Porsche Carrera Cup North America teams, celebrity drivers, and eSports professionals in the PCA Pro GT3 Cup Series Championship. In addition to Sebring, the 2022 calendar features double header races at Long Beach, March 31st, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, April 21st, Watkins Glen International, June 16th, Road America, July 28th, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, August 25th, and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, September 22nd.

Each race event features a pair of 40-minute races, mirroring the Carrera Cup North America format, plus practice and qualifying sessions. Each race will be broadcast live through Podium eSports on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook.

Hardpoint’s Happy Hour sessions are available and open each week to all fans on iRacing, as scheduled on Hardpoint's Instagram and Facebook pages. No advanced registration is required. Walsh will stream his run and the entire race on Twitch through Hardpoint’s account, HardpointMotorsports.
