What a busy month it has been! We continued our Meet the Head of School tour with trips to Washington, DC and Boston, MA. In between those trips, we celebrated a glorious May Day and Oak Tree Ceremony (check out The Harley Alumni Facebook page for pictures). Graduation is right around the corner, and we are getting excited to welcome our newest alumni, Harley's Class of 2014!
I hope to see many of you on Reunion weekend, June 13 and 14!

A few years ago, Karin started a community garden with a classmate and friend in Washington's Ward 5 Edgewood neighborhood We stopped by to see all the hard work that she and her band of volunteers have put in to make this a beautiful spot in the city.

Maggie Schnieder, a beacon of light
Following the passing of former faculty member, Maggie Schneider, the Class of 1981 raised money for the School in memory of Maggie's long standing service to The Harley School. This lantern, which hung in the old gym back in the 1940's, was saved following a fire in 1976 by Bud Ewell '40. It has recently been hung as a memorial to Maggie to serve as a beacon of light as you enter The Commons through Flag Hall.
The plaque from the Class of 1981 reads: This lantern is dedicated by the Class of 1981 in memory of Maggie Schneider for her more than 27 years of professional and personal dedication to the Harley community. She served as a guiding beacon for so many students and colleagues. We celebrate her light, her science, her music, and her favorite color...purple.
Truly missed but never forgotten.
