GEN SILENT FILM SHOWING & DISCUSSION

Positive Voice Inc. presents the critically-acclaimed documentary 'Gen Silent' viewing followed by discussion led by Stu Maddux, filmmaker

Wednesday March 27th 6:30 p.m.
Appleton Public Library
225 N Oneida St, Appleton, Wisconsin 54915

This film asks six Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender seniors if they will hide their friends, their spouses - their entire lives to survive in the care system. Their surprising decisions are captured through intimate access to their day-to-day lives over the course of a year. It puts a face on what experts call an epidemic: LGBT older people so afraid of discrimination by caregivers or bullying by other seniors that many simply go back into the closet.

Unlike any film before, Gen Silent startlingly discovers how oppression in the years before Stonewall now affects older LGBT people with fear and isolation.

If you would like to support the efforts of Positive Voice donations are appreciated

Funded by Positive Voice, Inc. working in collaboration with the City of Appleton Diversity, Appleton Public Library and Harmony Caf GLBT Services.
