Harmony Highlights:
March 2021 Edition

The month of March marks the one year anniversary of the COVID pandemic forcing schools to close their doors. While the past 12 months were nothing we could have ever imagined, together we were still able to accomplish so much. We opened the Harmony School of Science, our sixth campus in the West Texas district, we provided Chromebooks and hotspots to students so they could continue learning, we fed thousands of children, and we have slowly and safely begun reopening our campuses by taking all the necessary precautions.

I am so proud of the resilience and dedication from our Harmony family and know that we will continue to support each other through the next chapter and beyond.

Dr. Kamil Yilmaz
Area Superintendent
CONGRATULATIONS to the Harmony Science Academy UIL Mathematics team for winning 1st place as a team in the Academic Spring Meet Conference 4A and a couple of individual awards. The team will be advancing to Regionals at Texas Tech University next month.

It's never too early to start exposing students to college and career. That is why Harmony School of Excellence hosted College & Career events throughout the month. Activities included creating vision boards and listening to guest speakers from the community who shared what they did for a living so that students could get a better idea of the many career opportunities they will have when they grow up.
Harmony School of Science hosted a Harmony Around the World event which celebrated diversity and the embracing of different cultures through books and reading. Faculty and staff dressed up as book characters and decorated their cars based off books from around the world.

Students were given a HSS passport that was stamped as they visited each decorated vehicle. Students were also encouraged to dress up and bring their travel bags to hold the goodies they received as they drove "around the world."
The week of March 1, Harmony School of Innovation's grades K-5 celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss' Birthday with an entire week of engaging and fun activities promoting the importance of reading. Events included; themed dress-up days, high school students reading to elementary, and a drive thru parade. All the students had a great time and enjoyed celebrating reading.
There's no better time than Spring to start growing a garden, and that's exactly what the student council at Harmony Science Academy in Odessa have done. Students planted tulips, onions, carrots, broccoli, and tomatoes. The students are really excited to learn more about agriculture as they watch their plants and vegetables grow.

HSA-Lubbock showcased their school spirit, while driving awareness for the campus relocation, Saturday, March 27 by hosting a car parade. The parade started at Mahon Park and ended at the new campus. Faculty, parents and students came out and decorated their cars and participated in the fun. Prizes from Main Event, Altitude Trampoline Park, and Adventure Park were give to the top three decorated cars. Chilly Lily's food truck was also on site serving up some good eats.
