Sept. 2020 Edition

Harmony Public Schools West Texas district begins slowly re-opening campuses for the first time since the pandemic hit in March. The Harmony Science Academy in both Lubbock and Odessa have re-opened to students who have chosen in person learning and the El Paso campuses have opened learning centers until campuses are able to fully re-reopen in October.

Creating a safe and academically-focused learning environment for students and staff members is the top priority at Harmony Public Schools. Therefore, students who returned to class found a safe and organized learning environment with a number of improvements and new wellness protocols designed to increase student and staff safety while retaining a fun, collaborative, and academically-focused campus culture.

Students who have not opted for in-person instruction will continue virtual learning.
Congratulations to Harmony Science Academy-El Paso Senior, Efren Mendoza on his induction ceremony at the GECU - Student Board of Directors (SBD).
Earlier this summer, Efren was selected to be on the GECU Student Board of Directors through a rigorous application process.
Over 70 middle and high school students had their first meeting to join E-Sports, a competitive online gaming club that is new this year. Students will be divided into teams according to their game choice and grade level.
It has been an exciting journey to see our state-of-the-art fourth Harmony campus in El Paso, the 58th in the state of Texas, being built from the ground up. We look forward to showcasing this new campus in October during a virtual ribbon cutting ceremony.

HSA - Odessa first opened it's doors in August of 2010 to 300 students in K -8th grade. The school was originally renovated from an old department store and had 13 classrooms and a cafeteria.

Today our enrollment is at 505 students with two sections of each grade level, with the exception of 7th, which has three. We have expanded our building, upgraded our playground and have added sports to include: cross country running, basketball and soccer.

This year we are excited to announce that we have added a Maker Space, which will be a great learning space for our students. This will provide students the opportunity to learn about 3-D printing, laser cutting, coding, drones, and much more.
The first ever virtual parent/teacher conferences took place on September 21st with many parents excited to meet their scholar's teacher and learn more about their child's academic progress.
Special treats were distributed to students who had perfect attendance the last 4 weeks. We appreciate the commitment our students have demonstrated during these unprecedented times. Every day matters!
