Middle School to Medical School Program Dr. Felix G. Morales, Associate Dean of Admissions at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine provided a message of encouragement and advice to our students in the Middle School to Medical School program. This program offers mentoring opportunities to HSA- Lubbock middle school students interested in pursuing a degree in the medical field. The resident students from TTUHSC have come to our school and answered questions, taught students how to perform routine procedures (like taking someone's blood pressure), and judged our science fair competition.
What started out as a single growing bed in 2016 has turned into a full garden and aquaponic greenhouse today.  Through this, our students have been introduced to growing organic foods, harvesting vegetables, conservation, gardening, recognition of plants, and a form of agriculture that combines raising fish in tanks with soilless plant culture.  Some of the vegetables harvested from our garden have been sold at the local farmers markets.
