Oct. 2020 Edition

Harmony Public Schools West Texas officially opened the Harmony School of Science, the 4th campus in El Paso, the 6th in the district and the 58th in Texas. This new state-of-the-art campus is 58,000 square feet and has 20 classrooms, a large gymnasium, cafeteria/auditorium, makerspace, and outdoor playground.

"We are excited to be the 58th Harmony campus to open in Texas," said Principal Dr. Michaelene Sepesy. "While a challenging and trying time, our expectations for education remain high, as does our motivation and drive for student success. As a collaborative venture with our faculty, students, parents and the East El Paso community, we will strive to achieve academic excellence and promote college readiness"

Harmony Science Academy and Harmony School of Innovation - El Paso wins Greatschools 2020 College Success Award.
Both Harmony high schools in El Paso were among 2,158 schools from 29 states who have won the Great Schools 2020 College Success Award, which celebrates a successful track record of going beyond simply graduating students to helping them enroll in college and succeed once they get there.
To promote the importance of wearing a mask to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect those around us, HSI hosted a "Mask Up" contest. Students created artwork that represented who they wear a mask for. Pictured are the top 3 winners.
Harmony School of Science hosted a virtual Fall Festival Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Students were asked to decorate their pumpkins based on a character from one of the books they are reading as part of the Harmony reading challenge.
Harmony School of Excellence Fall Super Hero Parade
Harmony School of Excellence celebrated the end of the 1st Quarter, with a fall super hero parade on October 8th. Faculty and staff dressed up in their favorite superhero costumes while parents decorated their vehicles in the superhero theme.
Harmony Science Academy - Odessa hosted a drive thru trunk or treat event on October 30th. Families were encouraged to decorate their cars and join in on the fun as they drove by to pick up delicious treats. They had a wonderful turnout of not only of in-person students but the virtual students as well.
Thank you to all who made this event such a success.
As part of Harmony's home visit initiative the West Tx District has virtually visited 38% of students. The mission of the Home Visit Program is to increase student success and create an atmosphere where our students, parents, and staff work in harmony to build caring and learning communities. Even though we are not physically together, we are always "Together in Harmony."
