HSI- FW hosted Fort Worth Tarrant Charter School Coalition and distinguished guests today as we opened our campus, shared our #HarmonyStory.



 Texas State Board of Educators Secretary Ruben Cortez Visits HSA Dallas


Superintendent Karan and Principal Aykac welcomed State Board of Education Secretary on a campus tour of Harmony Science Academy Dallas, and then invited him to visit with our leadership team at the principal meetings. During the tour, Mr. Cortez was able to connect with our students, and hear from our student ambassadors. It was an honor to have SBOE Member Cortez out for a visit.
UTD's SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) organization is mentoring the JSHEP (Junior Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) group at Harmony Science Academy Dallas.

Plano Fire Department LAFS (Life And Fire Safety) clowns visited HSA Plano to teach students about safety using music, magic, puppets.


HSA Plano was honored to host former Navy Officer Mr. Mulvey as a guest of honor for a Veterans Day Memorial Presentation. Fourth through sixth grade students showed their respect for his contributions, asked many questions. (Pictured on the left.)
HSA Plano received the message below from North Texas Food Bank in gratitude of a successful canned food drive for their organization.

"Congratulations, to Harmony Science Academy in Plano, on a successful Canned Food Drive event! Your food drive raised a total of 787 pounds which will provide access to 656 meals for chronically hungry children, families, and seniors in need in North Texas! We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generosity. Special Scientist's Presentation

Animal Science Club's Ms. Maria Torres invites Tiffani Johnson to speak about rabies. Ms. Johnson, is a Zoonosis Control Program Specialist with the Texas Department of State Health Services and brings a wealth of knowledge to our students. She and Ms. Torres are members of the Texas Air Force Reserves 301st Medical Squadron.
HSA Honors Veteran and Fort Worth City Council Member, Jungus Jordan
Nearby business and Community Partners attended a breakfast in honor of our Veteran's Day Assembly.Also honored were parents and grandparents of students of HSA. Principal Jackson and Principal Mehmet were honored to have Councilman Jordan in attendance.
4th Grade Toastmaster!
HSA-FW's Pavan A. was recently recognized for completing the requirements for the eight week Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Program. Pavan was awarded 2nd place for Tarrant County Youth Leadership. His speech was on the topic, autumn. He plans on participating again recommends Toastmasters. The program provides an opportunity for young children to develop communication and leadership skills. The coaches provide a positive and supportive atmosphere while providing constructive feedback.

Student Council Collects Socks

HSA Fort Worth Student Council is proud to announce another successful Socktober Sock Drive! Each year our students collect socks, and make a big difference in the lives of our homeless community. It is an easy and fun movement for students to learn to give back to our community.

Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award

Meet Maria Torres, Harmony Science Academy 4th grade ELA and Coding Teacher. She enlisted in 2000 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. “I wanted to see the world, have school benefits, and follow in my father's footsteps.” Torres explained. She chose the United States Air Force because she grew up in an Air Force family. “That was all I knew, plus my dad would have killed me if I chose another branch.” After her military career, she went to college, became a teacher and continues to serve in the U.S.A.F. Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth as part of the 301st Medical Group Squadron.
Today, she promotes civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism inside and outside of the classroom. During Read Aloud Day, she invites local veterans to read to students. Candidly, she offered, “Every day I just try to enlighten my students of the opportunities we have in the U.S., as well as, the civic responsibilities that we have as citizens - to keep this country great. They are our future.”
Engineering Visits CR Smith Museum

3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Engineering students visited the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum. Students walked through the a history of American Airlines and experienced historical artifacts, photographs, full-scale aircraft engines and a rare Douglas DC-3 airliner. They learned the physics of aviation from ancient times through today and flew drones at the park!
Fall Festival 2017

PTO - Harmony School of Innovation played host to a fun Fall Festival. There was a pumpkin contest, jumbo jenga, music, dancing, and a variety of activities to keep the whole family happy!
4-Time State Cross Country Competitor

Jervaughn M. competed in his fourth consecutive State Meet last weekend. This is an amazing feat once, let alone every year of a high school career! This student athlete excels in the classroom as well. He carries a 3.8 GPA and is a member of The National Society of High School Scholars, National Honor Society and Rho Kappa National Honor Society. Following graduation he hopes to attend TCU – Texas Christian University.
PLTW-Engineering Flight And Space,Forces of Flight & Principles of Aeronautics
Students worked individually as real engineers to designed gliders on a realistic simulator then created their actual models by printing the templates. They compare flight times and the affects of the wing sizes and shapes on the range. They then use a standards-based, cloud-based virtual modeling STEM application that enable printing custom templates to build their actual gliders.
NJHS at Mission Arlington/ Mission Metroplex

HSI-FW students pitched in to meet the great variety of community needs. They joined forces with individuals, families, civic and governmental organizations, schools, businesses, churches and social agencies to form a network - working together - to make a difference in Arlington.
Congratulations to Angelica Garcia! She has been nominated as Harmony School of Innovation Fort Worth's LifeChanger of the Year. She challenges students and sets the bar high! The Human Brain: Education and Research

Dr. Michael J. Forster of the UNT Health Science Center Institute on Aging, Introduces students to educational and career pathways in the field of Biomedical Science. He also tested our students young brains by presenting them with neurological case studies to diagnose.
HSA Waco Watch D.O.G.S

HSA-Waco held the first Watch D.O.G.S. event. Dads of Great Students aka Wa is an organization that has fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and etc as volunteers on campus. HSA-Waco had over 200 father figures and students to participate in this event.

H.S.A. Waco Hosts Community Breakfast

Members from the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber along with members from the Greater Waco Chamber were greeted with a tour. Students and staff shared our Harmony story, and some some first semester highlights.

H.S.A. Waco Hosts VIP Visitor

Former F.B.I. special agent and current Police Chief for the City of Lacy Lakeview John Truett visited HSA Waco students and gave a presentation about bullying prevention.


H.S.A. Waco Hosts Snowy Night

HSA Kindergarten through third grade parents come out to support our students for a Snowy Night Performance. It was a fun night of crafts based on winter story books, with great turnout from our Harmony family!

HSI Carrollton hosted a breakfast with a guest speaker from Carrollton police department also a veteran Mr. Todd Click. 5th grade assembly with parents and veterans participation from Carrollton's Senior home.
1st grade students enjoyed fun hands-on engineering activities during fall rotations.
VIP VISITOR

HSAGP is proud to have had Attorney Lee Merritt visit last month. He has been named on of the most influential African Americans for 2017! He was named 8 of 100. We are very grateful to him for speaking to our students about the effects of bullying during Bullying Prevention Month.


Messy Math

Parents and 5th grade students enjoyed a pumpkin math activity in Mrs. Hensley's math class. Everyone enjoyed this fun and messy math activity!
HSA Grand Prairie hosted a Family Science Night powered by the Perot Museum. Families and students "Cracked the Case" using Forensic Science.
Computer Science Week
We celebrated Computer Science Week with Hour of Code! K-8th grade students geeked up for coding fun in their technology and coding classes!
Baylor's Dr. Livingston Visits HSI Waco

The first female President of Baylor University Dr. Linda Livingstone. Dr. Livingstone spoke to the Senior class and had the chance to ask questions. We had alumni and current Baylor students present her and her husband with a gift. The couple were given a tour of the new campus
The HSI-Waco Varsity basketball team competed in the Olgesby Tiger tournament. The boys did an awesome job at the tournament. The team got 2nd overall, this is the first time any Harmony basketball team has ever placed. Manual V. got MVP of the tournament which is also a first for the team.
Administrators and students were special guest of Mr. Meza for the annual Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber banquet. This year Josh Blake Board Member of the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber presented Vanessa Q. with her scholarship for winning the people choice award at the annual membership baquet. Her painting was called "City with a Soul" . This is her second year winning the award. She will receive another scholarship in a private ceremony by State Representative Charles Anderson. Four Seniors also had the chance to visit with Mr. Anderson and visit with Secretary Henry Cisneros.

HSI Euless teamed up with the Euless Police Dept. to help raise money for 6 stones Night of Hope. We were challenged to raise $400 in three days, we crushed that number and raised $732.00.

HSI Euless held an Inaugural Veterans Day celebration honoring seven deserving service members in attendance as VIPs for our Parade.
We offer 22 different after school clubs, this week we highlighted our cooking club. Cooking club meets after school every monday and has .... students attend each week. This past week they made brownies in a mug. It was a success!
Hurst City Manager Mr. Clay Caruthers, visited our campus to speak to our 6th graders about the 'Kindness Matters' activities that they have been doing around campus.
Harmony students are true leaders. Our impressive SAT/PSAT test takers began an online prep program called "Harmony SAT Prep". The mission of the program is to provide free SAT services (weekly videos and free online 1:1 tutoring) to all students.
