THE CENTER of Englewood is owned & operated by Shepherd's HOPE, Ltd. & houses our food pantry & family feeding center as well as By the Hand Club for Kids, 1st Defense Legal Aid, Midwest Coalition to Stop Violence, New Life K.N.E.W. Solutions, New Hope Medical Clinic, Plano Vision Clinic, Pass-It-On Academy, Something Good in Englewood, Basketball by Blue, and Xperience Church.
Harnessing the POWER of Collaboration
Greetings!

Hope you and your family made it through the Christmas season healthy, well-rested and ready for what awaits in the New Year “2021.”
 
A paragraph I shared with you in our last newsletter brought to light what Shepherd’s HOPE and THE CENTER are all about and what their goals are for 2021 with the LORD at the helm.
It read as follows:
“My prayer is that we can remain obedient to the LORD’s mission."
This means that our hope is that the LORD will keep us obedient to HIS will, while providing the resources we need to keep Shepherd’s HOPE and THE CENTER solvent through grants, corporate sponsors & your generous giving.
“and harness the power of the collaboration
of these ministries working together.”
This means making our neighbors aware of what the ministries at THE CENTER have to offer and how to access their services by actively promoting these ministries in the Englewood community.
“so that the people in Englewood and City of Chicago can visually see what can happen when egos and pride are put aside and everyone is working together in one accord.”
This means that the LORD provided THE CENTER so that a group of 12 small ministries that were working separately, shining dim lights in this community could come together, put their egos aside and work as one unit under one roof and let the LORD shine HIS light like never before in this community. 
Redefining the spiritual landscape of Englewood.
“where the lives of strangers in need, matter more than their own.”
This means that the people who work for these ministries have been humbled by the LORD so that the lives of the neighbors they serve, matter more to them than their own. This is where the parable of the Good Samaritan comes alive to the watching world, and how the word of GOD is preached without saying a word.
I can’t imagine Englewood without Shepherd’s HOPE and THE CENTER. The end result over the next year would be:
5000 people weekly looking for another place to eat hot meals & get their groceries
25 Children with working parents would have to find a daycare.
A 250-student afterschool program would have to find a new location.
100’s of people would have to find a new facility to get free clothes and winter apparel.
250 youth & teens would have no afterschool & weekend basketball clinics & camps
250 people would have to locate a new place for free legal aid.
100’s of adults and children would have to find another place for mental health counseling, medical and vision care, and mediation for domestic and gang-related disputes.

What a loss it would be for our neighbors we have grown to love. This list doesn’t even include the 10 other ministries we share food with on a regular basis, as well as providing space in our building for their special events.
