Harnett County Government, in partnership with the I-95/I-40 Crossroads of America Economic Development Alliance, is proud to announce the acquisition of land for the County’s first Class A industrial park, Harnett 95 Industrial Center (Harnett 95), in Dunn.
The first phase of the project will include a 162,000-square-foot speculative industrial building, with construction starting in the first quarter of 2025. Upon completion, this facility will be the first of six planned Class A industrial buildings at Harnett 95. Samet Corporation is the project developer.

Rooms To Go Expands Distribution Center in Harnett County | |

Rooms To Go is expanding its roughly 1,450,000-square-foot distribution center in Harnett County to better serve customers across the Carolinas and the northeast United States. The expansion will add 336,000 square feet to its current facility in the City of Dunn, bringing the total size to 1,790,000 square feet.
With this expansion, the total number of employees is expected to grow to about 425. Read more about Rooms To Go's decision to grow in Harnett County here.

Introducing the Harnett 95 Industrial Center
A new 65-acre industrial development is coming to Harnett County at the intersection of US-301 Highway and Arrowhead Road in Dunn. Once fully developed, Harnett 95 will offer over 800,000 square feet of industrial space.
Phase One is set to begin in Q1 2025, with construction starting on a ±162,000 square foot speculative facility that includes:
- Divisible space from ±28,000 sq. ft. to 42,000 sq. ft.
- 32' clear heights
- ESFR sprinkler system
- Dock-high and drive-in loading doors and more!

On August 27, Harnett County Economic Development, in collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Harnett County Partnership for Children, hosted a discussion on the vital role of child care in supporting the workforce. The event featured state and local experts who emphasized how access to quality child care significantly influences employee retention, productivity, and overall economic growth.
The dialogue explored potential strategies for enhancing child care resources, ultimately benefiting both employers and employees.

NC Carolina Core Delegation Showcases Economic Development Strengths in Dallas
A delegation from the NC Carolina Core, including Director Stephen Barrington from Harnett County Economic Development, recently traveled to Dallas, Texas, to meet with site selection consultants. These meetings were focused on sharing the NC Carolina Core’s ongoing economic development momentum and highlighting the unique assets that make our communities prime locations for business investment.

CCCC Hosts Manufacturing Day Celebration
Harnett County Economic Development joined Central Carolina Community College at their annual National Manufacturing Day celebration on October 4. This year’s event drew over 1,000 attendees, including local students, and featured displays from approximately 30 companies – several from Harnett County - showcasing career opportunities in manufacturing. This event emphasized the significance of manufacturing in our region’s economy and highlighted CCCC’s role in preparing the future workforce.

In August, Harnett County Economic Development attended the Dunn Chamber of Commerce’s Business Impact State Legislative Update Luncheon.

NCEDA Practitioner Workshop Held in High Point
In August, the Harnett County Economic Development team attended the North Carolina Economic Development Association's 2024 Practitioner Workshop in High Point. The event covered key topics like crafting incentives, updates from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) and the North Carolina Department of Commerce, grant resources, and effective communication tools for economic developers. The workshop also provided opportunities to network, connect, and discuss strategies for fostering economic growth in North Carolina.
