38 Special Lead Singer Don Barnes and Wife on Harrowing Delta Flight
Engine Issue Forces Plane to Land in Raleigh Durham
(Nashville, Tennessee...) -- July 9, 2019 -- 38 Special lead singer and co-founder Don Barnes’  Ride The Storm   album took on new meaning yesterday, as he and his wife Christine were en route from Atlanta to Baltimore for a family beach vacation in Delaware. Not long into the flight, an engine issue forced the crew of their Delta plane to make an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

“Christine and I were on that plane yesterday, thinking we’re going to have a nice relaxing few days off the road, and it looked like an engine flamed out,” said Don. "It was definitely a harrowing event. Everyone on that plane was very concerned as we descended. It's not something I would ever want to experience again.”

The plane landed without incident, and Don and Christine made it safely to their Delaware destination. Officials have not disclosed the nature of the engine malfunction.

Don heads west on Friday for 38 Special tour dates that will take the band to Kansas, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington and California through July.
