Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser
Dear Hart Families,
We are so excited for the 3rd Annual STEM Festival. The festival will be held on Saturday, February 29th at the Lovejoy High School. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. The festival concludes at 3:00 p.m.
I am thrilled to announce Hart has a team of highly creative 4th graders that have joined forces and made a Cangineering team. In order for our team to create, we need canned food! We are in need of 14.5 ounce cans of canned food. The cans need to be in their original label and not expired. The canned food will be donated to the ACO after the festival.

NEW!!! Cafeteria Reminders
Bringing Your Student Lunch
As a reminder, parents can bring a lunch of their choice to their own son or daughter but are prohibited under the Texas Administrative Code to bring lunch for other students.
If a parent brings food for other students, the parents of the other student may object to their child being provided a lunch from an outside restaurant due to diet or medical concerns of their child. In the future, if a parent brings lunch for more than one student, we will inform the parent that HES and LISD are only permitted to allow parents to deliver food for their own student. For more information about the Texas Administrative Code, please
. Thank you for your cooperation in supporting the nutrition and safety of our students.

Notes from Nurse Alli
Just a gentle reminder that strep/flu/cold season is upon us. We have had several confirmed cases of Flu B, Flu A and strep throat. The main symptoms of the cases we have seen are stomach ache, headache, vomiting, sore throat, cough, fever, and dizziness. It seems that many children are complaining of headache and/or stomach ache at the very beginning then the fever seems to come with slower progression than typical flu symptoms. If I send your child home with a fever (or vomiting) or if your child is running fever at home, they MAY NOT return to school until they have been fever and vomiting free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of Advil, Tylenol or Multi-symptom cold relief medication. This is not only to protect all of their classmates, but also to protect your child whose immune system is already working hard.
Please click here or refer to the Lovejoy link provided (under the Clinic Department for Hart) for more helpful Flu information:
It is a good time to review proper handwashing practices with young children. Using soap and rubbing vigorously under running water for about 30 seconds to one minute is important to get rid of the germs that cause the flu. Asking young children to "sing the ABCs" at a steady rate while washing will help them reach the 30 second mark
.
HEAD LICE
This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidents involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:
-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast
*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having and sign/symptoms listed above they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidences of lice.
For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 469-742-8156 or email me at

.
Thank you so much for helping to keep everyone healthy this season!

Upcoming Events
The elementary campouts are an opportunity for parents, students, teachers, and staff to come together with the community for a night of fun, fellowship, and service. Each elementary campus hosts its own event that provides a night of activities for the whole family and culminates with an overnight campout under the stars. In addition to building community, this event also serves as a primary fundraiser for each campus. Funds raised during the campout event ensure LISD can continue to provide our students with premier educational programs. This event truly is a great example of One Heart. One Lovejoy.

Receive Text Messages from Lovejoy ISD
Lovejoy ISD is adding text messaging capability to SchoolMessenger, the system we use for phone calls and email communications for information such as school closings due to inclement weather. SchoolMessenger will be configured to send text messages to your wireless phone number(s), with your approval.
To get started, please confirm we have your accurate wireless phone number in the PowerSchool Parent Portal and then opt-in to participate by following the directions below:
In order to receive messages from Lovejoy ISD or your student's school via SMS text we must have your wireless number(s) in SchoolMessenger and receive an "Opt-In Confirmation" from your wireless device.
You can easily opt-in by simply sending "Y" (or "Yes"), via text message, to our SchoolMessenger Short Code number 67587.
The wireless number(s) you enter into the PowerSchool Parent Portal are updated nightly. If you update your wireless number, or add a new number, in the PowerSchool Parent Portal, the new number will automatically be sent an Opt-In message.
To access the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please click here. If you have any questions, or if we may be of any assistance, please contact Stacey Dillon at 469.742.8003.
