Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

We would like to invite all of our families to our 2nd Annual Tailgate Party before the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 18 at Hart Elementary.  We will have a couple of grills set up on the North side of the building and we will be flipping burgers and grilling hot dogs. We will also have chips, water, and soda available. We will start tailgating at 5:00 p.m. Hart is a shuttle spot for the football game, so buses will shuttle anyone parking at Hart to and from the high school. This is a great way to avoid the parking struggles at the high school! Please RSVP using the following form to let us know you will be joining us!

Family Fun Night is next Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 5:00-7:00. The deadline was extended for Chick-fil-a orders to tomorrow.  Click here if you would like to order dinner.  We look forward to a great evening with all of our families!

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Please join us on Wednesday, October 9 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. for Family Fun Night. The deadline to order Chick-fil-a meals has been extended to Friday, October 4. The Hart Elementary playground will be full of games, inflatable bounce houses, and a few new inflatable attractions. We hope to see you all there!

We invite you to join us on Thursday, October 10 at 8:15 a.m. for Hart Beat. Please wear your 2019-2020 class shirt!

One way to check in a little faster is to RSVP ahead of time to Heather Bouska at [email protected].  If you have come through the office this year, you only need to send your name.  If you have not had an opportunity to check in through the office this year, you can send a picture of your ID for manual entry.  Mrs. Bouska will then print out your sticker badge the morning you plan to attend and you will pick it up when you arrive.  This should help speed up the process.  Please RSVP by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday October 9.

Message from the Nurse:

Currently we are seeing allergy related illness (ragweed has been high) and a type of stomach virus with most predominant symptoms being stomach ache with cramping, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. It seems that not all are getting fever with this virus and seems to be lasting anywhere from 24-48 hours.
Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

We have seen some cases of Hand, foot , and mouth disease. Parents please be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of this virus.
Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in older children and adults. It usually starts with:
  • a fever
  • reduced appetite
  • sore throat
  • a feeling of being unwell (malaise)
One or two days after the fever starts, painful sores can develop in the mouth. They usually begin as small red spots, often in the back of the mouth, that blister and can become painful.
A skin rash on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet may also develop over one or two days as flat, red spots, sometimes with blisters.
We ask that parents follow our policy that the child should be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication and that all blisters be dried and no new blisters appearing.

If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed. Please email
[email protected] and  [email protected] with the date and reason for the absence. You can also use the School Dismissal App to report an illnesses. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

If your child has physical restrictions from activity, please email Coach Eric Hill, [email protected] and Nurse Alli, [email protected]. Contacting Coach and Nurse Alli directly will ensure the limitation is noted and alternate plans can be made.
Thank you!

Nurse Alli

Red Ribbon Week 2019
Schedule of Events
October 21-October 25, 2019

One Heart, One Promise
Red Ribbon Week is a special week recognized around the country. This week-long celebration of events is designed to educate and increase awareness about drug prevention. At Hart Elementary, we consider this a great time to pledge to be drug free and to reflect on ways that we can maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle. Red Ribbon Week activities will kick off on Monday, October 21st .  During the week of October 21st  - October 25th , we will emphasize making responsible choices that can help students be and do their very best in school and in life. We would like to encourage everyone to bring healthy snacks to school and to participate in the fun dress-up days.

Let's Participate in a Healthy
Activity that Benefits Our Community !
According to research, youth who feel they are contributing members of a caring community are less likely to be involved in illegal drug use. As part of our Red Ribbon Week activities, Lovejoy students will have the opportunity to connect to the Collin County community. We will emphasize participating in a healthy activity that benefits others by participating in a service project to support Allen Community Outreach (ACO). Each year during the month of October, ACO has a fundraiser called the Caring Coins Drive in which they collect donations of spare change to support the ongoing needs in Collin County. Let's encourage our students to contribute to this service organization by bringing in their American coins and/or bills each day of Red Ribbon Week. Their generous contributions will assist residents of Allen, Lucas, and Fairview who are in financial need.

PowerSchool Parent Portal Access Tips
Here are some quick bullets about the PowerSchool Parent Portal:
PowerSchool Parent Portal Access Tips
Here are some quick bullets about the PowerSchool Parent Portal:
  • Unless you have changed your username after August 12, 2019, the username is the email address that is associated to the parent account. The log of invalid logins that we are seeing are typically parent accounts that are trying to use something other than an email address as the username.
  • Recently users have been denied access and it is determined that they are not using the correct URL. Please make sure that you are going to http://powerschool.lovejoyisd.net . If you see Welcome to Unified Classroom, you are on the wrong site. This is another PowerSchool product that we do not have a subscription as it duplicates Google Classroom.
  • Remember that the mobile app is only a tool for updates on assignments, grades, and attendance. Typically to access the Enrollment Forms, Absence Reason Excuses, GPA Information, and the Random Drug Testing Forms you must use a tablet, laptop or desktop and the URL above. From a mobile phone, you can use your browser and go to the URL above; however, once logged in it is difficult to navigate.
