Dear Hart Families,

I can't believe the first day of school is just a little over a week away.  It is exciting to feel the school abuzz with teachers busy preparing rooms, decorating hallways, and planning for the new year.  I hope to see many of you tomorrow at 5:00 when we post class lists.  Join us in the cafeteria for lemonade and cookies and reunite with friends you haven't seen all summer.  Mrs. Chelsea Scoville, our new counselor, will also be there to meet students and parents. 

I also invite you to join us for New Student Orientation and Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, Aug. 14.  New Student Orientation is for those families that are new to Hart and will meet in the Lair from 4:15-5:15.  Meet the Teacher will follow for all students from 5:30-6:45. To help with parking, last names starting with A-L attend from 5:30-6:15 and last names starting with M-Z attend from 6:15-6:45.

All students will still receive a special message from their new teacher after class lists are posted and before Meet the Teacher night. Within the first two weeks of school, you will receive another call from your child's teacher. This will allow for a more personal phone call to ensure your child's school year is off to a good start, share successes from the beginning of the year, and address any questions or concerns.  

I am excited to continue to partner with you in your child's education. As always, my door is open. I encourage you to use it anytime.

These are only suggested times to help with parking. If you need to come outside of your suggested time, feel free to do so. While making your way about the building, you may want to stop by the cafeteria to deposit money into your child's lunch account, purchase spirit wear, join the PTA, etc.  You can also visit the Lair to register to be a Dad@Hart and secure your date.  Also, be sure to sign the form in your child's class informing us as to how your child will be getting home at the end of the first day of school and on typical school days.


Office Closed on Monday, Aug. 13 from 7:30am-1:00pm
On Monday, August 14 th , Lovejoy ISD will kick off the new school year by having our annual convocation. This is an opportunity for our entire staff to learn and be set up for success for the new school year. Therefore, our office will be closed from 7:30 - 1:00. If you need anything on Monday, please plan to call or visit us after 1:00pm.

Gifted and Talented Referrals for 2018-2019

The referral window for gifted and talented services is now open. Referral forms will be available online in the PowerSchool Parent Portal beginning August 13th. The window for referrals will close September 7, 2018.
 
Testing is scheduled for Saturday, September 15th and 22nd for students in grades 1-12. Please note: Kindergarten students will be tested at a later date.
 
Looking for More Information about G/T Services?
 
A brief information session will review the gifted and talented referral process and services offered in Lovejoy.

New! Lovejoy Ice Hockey Registration
The Lovejoy Ice Hockey Club is forming teams for this upcoming season.  Any 7th - 12th grade hockey players who would like to join the team are encouraged to reach out to [email protected]


Receive Text Messages from Lovejoy ISD
Lovejoy ISD is adding text messaging capability to SchoolMessenger, the system we use for phone calls and email communications for information such as school closings due to inclement weather. SchoolMessenger will be configured to send text messages to your wireless phone number(s), with your approval. 

To get started, please confirm we have your accurate wireless phone number in the PowerSchool Parent Portal and then opt-in to participate by following the directions below:

In order to receive messages from Lovejoy ISD or your student's school via SMS text we must have your wireless number(s) in SchoolMessenger and receive an "Opt-In Confirmation" from your wireless device. 

You can easily opt-in by simply sending "Y" (or "Yes"), via text message, to our SchoolMessenger Short Code number 67587. 

The wireless number(s) you enter into the PowerSchool Parent Portal are updated nightly. If you update your wireless number, or add a new number, in the PowerSchool Parent Portal, the new number will automatically be sent an Opt-In message.
