Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

We are excited to announce the date of our 2nd Annual Late Night Leopard Camp Out. Mark you calendars for Saturday, April 27! More details to come with all camp happenings and registration dates.

For those of you who attended last year, I am sure you could see it takes a lot of planning and preparation to put on this event.  This year, we are looking to expand our committees and there is something for everyone who would like to be involved.  Please use this sign up genius to sign up to help and join us for our first camp out planning meeting on October 19 in the Hart Lair.

Family Fun Night is this Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 5:00-7:00.  Join us for a family night of fun, bounce houses, music, and Mooyah burgers.

We hope everyone is enjoying their Fall Break.  The Moser family is headed to the beach to enjoy the last bit of warm weather!

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Currently we are seeing allergy related illness (ragweed has been high) and a couple other viruses with most predominate symptoms being headache, sore throat, stomach ache, and vomiting. It seems that not all are getting fever with this virus and seems to be lasting anywhere from 48-72 hours.
Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidences involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:
-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast
*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having any sign/symptoms listed above, they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidences of lice. However, if there has been a child in your child's classroom with a head lice diagnosis, you will receive a packet stating there has been a diagnosis in the class with more detailed info and education attached. For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Upcoming Author Visit Oct 24th

We are thrilled that he will be signing books that day. Students can bring any book that he has written or illustrated for a signing. You may purchase from any store, but we do have several titles available for purchase on our RevTrak page here.

These will be delivered to Hart prior to his visit so we will have them ready for the kids to pick up in the library for signing that day.

First Annual Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Hart library is hosting a contest for students and their families! Think about a favorite book character and select a pumpkin to decorate. These can be turned in on Monday, Oct 22nd and remain on display through Oct 31st These will be released to take home on this day.  Students will have a chance to vote on their favorites. Go here for details.

BOOK FAIR VOLUNTEERS: A HUGE thank you for all of you who decorated, set up, worked registers, worked at the Ice Cream Social, and packed away the book fair this year. Thanks to your hard work and dedication, the library stayed open during the regular hours without interruption to classes and checkout. We appreciate you!

Counselor's Corner

During guidance over the next two weeks, students will learn about the school-wide program called Kelso's Choices. Kelso is a friendly frog that helps students resolve conflicts using a wheel of nine choices. We will discuss the meaning of conflict and the difference between a BIG problem and a SMALL problem. Small problems are ones that bother us and make us feel sad, upset and/pr angry, but are not dangerous or frightening, Students are encouraged to try two of Kelso's choices to resolve a small problem before asking an adult for help.
BIG problems may be dangerous or frightening and may result in someone or something getting hurt. When students have big problems, they MUST tell an adult right away. We will also be starting a lesson that teaches responsible behaviors in a fun way! Please feel free to call or email me anytime!

Lovejoy ISD District News

Circle of Partners

Lovejoy ISD is pleased to welcome Tutoring 101 to the Circle of Partners . Tutoring 101 and Lovejoy ISD have formed a revenue generating/sharing partnership to bring their services to Lovejoy families. Please see below for several offerings.
Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of one letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.
What is your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?
Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class. Tutoring 101 helps high scorers get top scores, average students raise their scores and poor test takers achieve the scores colleges want. Tutoring 101 students have earned admissions and scholarships, and have saved thousands of tuition dollars every year.
  • Specialize in working with individual students and their specific needs
  • Day-of-test strategies
  • One-on-one/small groups
  • PSAT/SAT Classes: Tues or Thurs or Saturdays
  • ACT Prep Classes: Mon/Wed or Sat
  • One on One and Online Prep also available
  • School District Employee Discount
Learn about Tutoring 101's all-inclusive PSAT/SAT/ACT programs:

    Global Read Aloud Project

Lovejoy K-2 students are participating in the Global Read Aloud Project during the months of October and November.
The project was created in 2010 with a simple goal in mind; one book to connect the world. From its humble beginnings, the GRA has grown to make a truly global connection with more than 4,000,000 students having participated.  Please click here to learn about the books we will be reading this year. K-2 students will be reading the picture books and responding in Seesaw. Each class will also be making connections with other classes that are participating from around the world.
New! Senior Project
Raised Funds for Autism

Zachary Taylor , a senior at Lovejoy High School, thanks the Lovejoy community for their support of his Senior Project:
"Hello! I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ribbon or two at Leopard Friday and to those who donated online for the Autism Walk this past weekend.  We had a great turnout and the weather was perfect during the walk.  We finished just in time before the rain started to come down on us.  Not only did I meet my goal of raising $500 toward the walk, the donation total was over $700. If you would still like to donate, the deadline is October 29. The combined donations from the ribbons sale and the walk was over $850.  We had a fun time walking for such a great cause. Thank you everyone for your love and support of Autism Awareness!
