NEW! ILLNESS

Currently, we are seeing a few viruses (kiddos are testing negative for flu and strep) that are presenting with fever, cough, sore throat, nausea/vomiting, lack of appetite, and lack of energy . Not all are experiencing all of these symptoms.

We are still seeing some Flu and strep, but it has declined tremendously. Some are not experiencing typical symptoms of strep throat such as fever and sore throat (some are only complaining of a headache and/or stomach ache). Symptoms of the flu may include (but may not be experience by all) are: fever, chills, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, cough, diarrhea, headache, body aches, sore throat. It seems that the most common symptoms with Flu this year are fever, sinus congestion, headache, stomach ache, and eye pressure. We are also seeing many allergy related symptoms.

Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help protect others.

The most effective way to protect ourselves for coming in contact with bacteria and viruses are:
  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol, when soap and water aren't available.
  • Avoid direct contact with body fluids of people who are obviously sick
  • Be kind and cautious with cough and sneezing--cover mouth and nose and use tissues
  • Fever of 100 degrees or higher indicate student should not come to school until 24 hours fever free (without medicine) and additional concerns of illness are best discussed with your Physician
  • Do NOT share food, drinks, utensils with others
  • Flu shots are available in the community
  • Be proactive, contain illness by staying home if you are sick, and prevent the spread of germs
Thank you for your cooperation!

New! First Annual Lovejoy Visual Arts Portrait Show
Opening Reception:  March 7th
It is a pleasure to invite you and your family to attend the 1st Annual Lovejoy Visual Arts Portrait Show in the Lovejoy High School Art Gallery on March 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.  If you were unable to attend the Fine Arts Festival in December, the new gallery at the high school was unveiled with an inaugural K-12 Evolution show, focusing on the experience and growth students take on as a part of the art community in Lovejoy ISD. The exhibition was an incredible showcase of every age group and was curated by a Lovejoy senior. Following this idea of transformation in our students' artistic language and personal voice from kindergarten to 12th grade, the next opening is a showcase of how our young artists represent themselves and others through portraiture. The concept of identity, both through representation and abstraction, is a core thread in every Lovejoy art studio, and is explored through a plethora of media and art forms. This exhibition celebrates the range of approaches used to explore identity at all age levels, and is a spectacular body of work to begin the tradition of a yearly Portrait Show.

Please join us in the Lovejoy High School Art Gallery on Tuesday, March 7th to celebrate the work of some of Lovejoy's many fine artists. If you are unable to attend the opening reception, the show will be open daily during school hours from March 6th - April 7th.
