Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

We enjoyed celebrating Family Fun Night with all of you on Wednesday.  The weather turned out to be beautiful and I enjoyed visiting with families and watching our students play. Thank you to our PTA for funding this event!

Today is the last day of the first quarter which means that conferences will start soon and report cards will be handed out.  Our report card is an important tool between the teacher and home.  We use Standards Based Report Cards (SBRC) to allow us to report how a student is performing on the specific standards they are expected to learn and the teacher is expected to teach.  This type of report card gives a much clearer picture of what a student is able to consistently do as opposed to a number grade that represents the average of what a student is able to do.  You will have an opportunity to conference with your child's teacher and hear about your child's progress. This is also a time to share concerns and ask questions. If there is anything I can help with, feel free to call me anytime.

As many of you know, Lovejoy ISD has 6 new school buses equipped with safety belts. Today, our K-2 students had the opportunity to explore the bus and practice putting on the safety belts. Our students did an excellent job and returned quickly to normal routines.

It looks like this weekend is going to bring more rain.  It feels like the perfect weekend to make chili, snuggle on the couch, and enjoy some football.

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Currently we are seeing allergy related illness (ragweed has been high) and a couple other viruses with most predominate symptoms being headache, sore throat, stomach ache, and vomiting. It seems that not all are getting fever with this virus and seems to be lasting anywhere from 48-72 hours.
Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidences involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:
-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast
*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having any sign/symptoms listed above, they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidences of lice. However, if there has been a child in your child's classroom with a head lice diagnosis, you will receive a packet stating there has been a diagnosis in the class with more detailed info and education attached. For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.

Thank you for your cooperation!

First Annual Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Hart library is hosting a contest for students and their families! Think about a favorite book character and select a pumpkin to decorate. Families can work together to decorate (NOT CARVE) a pumpkin. These can be turned in on Monday, Oct 22nd and remain on display through Oct 31st These will be released to take home on this day.  Students will have a chance to vote on their favorites. Go here for details.

Counselor's Corner

During guidance over the next two weeks, students will learn about the school-wide program called Kelso's Choices. Kelso is a friendly frog that helps students resolve conflicts using a wheel of nine choices. We will discuss the meaning of conflict and the difference between a BIG problem and a SMALL problem. Small problems are ones that bother us and make us feel sad, upset and/pr angry, but are not dangerous or frightening, Students are encouraged to try two of Kelso's choices to resolve a small problem before asking an adult for help.
BIG problems may be dangerous or frightening and may result in someone or something getting hurt. When students have big problems, they MUST tell an adult right away. We will also be starting a lesson that teaches responsible behaviors in a fun way! Please feel free to call or email me anytime!

Circle of Partners

Lovejoy ISD is pleased to welcome Tutoring 101 to the Circle of Partners . Tutoring 101 and Lovejoy ISD have formed a revenue generating/sharing partnership to bring their services to Lovejoy families. Please see below for several offerings.
Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of one letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.
What is your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?
Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class. Tutoring 101 helps high scorers get top scores, average students raise their scores and poor test takers achieve the scores colleges want. Tutoring 101 students have earned admissions and scholarships, and have saved thousands of tuition dollars every year.
  • Specialize in working with individual students and their specific needs
  • Day-of-test strategies
  • One-on-one/small groups
  • PSAT/SAT Classes: Tues or Thurs or Saturdays
  • ACT Prep Classes: Mon/Wed or Sat
  • One on One and Online Prep also available
  • School District Employee Discount
Learn about Tutoring 101's all-inclusive PSAT/SAT/ACT programs:

  • 10th-12th PSAT/SAT/ACT
  • 9th-12th Grade PSAT/NMSQT/SAT/ACT
