Our Kindergarten Performance is Thursday, April 19th, at 6:30 p.m. here in the Cafeteria at Hart.
Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Hart Family and Friends,

What a great week at Hart! Our 4th graders worked hard on their Writing STAAR test and we had lots of chicks hatching in 1st grade. Next week is going to be eventful as well.  Earth week is next week and we have dress up days listed below.  Our next Hart Beat is Wednesday morning at 8:15am.  This is also an Early Release day and school will dismiss at noon. During that afternoon our teachers will continue learning together to provide the best educational experience for your children.  Our Kindergarten music performance is on Thursday night at 6:30 in the cafeteria, and then Kindergarten will head to the Arboretum on Friday, April 20 for their field trip. Last, but not least, the week ends with our first annual Late Night Leopard Camp Out on Friday night!  We had over 100 families register to camp. Those of you who registered will continue to receive important camping information throughout this weekend and next week. We can't wait to camp under the stars and enjoy all of the festivities!

April and May are always busy months. The learning continues as we ensure students are prepared for the next grade level, and there are many fun end of year events and activities planned. The great things at Hart could not happen without our amazing parents and we appreciate your continued partnership!  As always, please email, call, or stop in if you have any questions or concerns.

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Message from the Nurse:

We are currently seeing strep throat and allergy symptoms. There is also a virus that is lasting approx. 2-3 days-predominate symptoms seem to be a  sore throat, nausea/vomiting, headache, chills, body aches (flu-like). We have not seen any diagnoses of flu recently.

HEAD LICE
This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidences involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:

-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast

*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having any sign/symptoms listed above, they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidences of lice. However, if your child is in class with another child who has a known diagnosis of head lice, you will receive a packet of information stating there has been a diagnosis in the classroom and policy/resources in regards to lice. For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.

We ask that children be free from fever without medicine, diarrhea, or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school to prevent illnesses from spreading. Fever is considered 100.0 or greater.

If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed. Please email [email protected] and [email protected] with the date and reason for the absence. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

Please refer to the Lovejoy ISD web site under Hart Campuses / Departments / Clinic for more info. about the flu.

New! Lovejoy Parent Authors Book

Susan Hoemke, a Lovejoy parent, has authored a book titled,
Healing Scarred Hearts which will be released on May 8th. Following is information shared by Susan:

"After we lost our son Hayden in 2014 to drug overdose and our family was impacted the 8 years as he struggled with addiction and personality disorder, I began to feel the need to educate other families about what all we learned. I have been working with Kathy Stone to build a better drug awareness program. In 2016, when the Opioid crisis made the news, I decided to write a book and in 2017 Brown Books Publishing accepted my manuscript and this began the process to bring our story to the frontline. Healing Scarred Hearts will be released May 8th with hopes to bring education and healing to the complicated issue of substance abuse, addiction and overdose. My book also shares the crisis of legal issues that many times are associated with kids and substance abuse."
