Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser
Dear Hart Families,
Beginning Thursday, February 6, Hart Helpers will be selling paper hearts in the Hart cafeteria before school and during lunch. Heart sales will conclude on Thursday, February 13 after Hart Beat.
Students can purchase hearts for the teacher and/or staff member they would like to see crowned as King or Queen of Hart! Small hearts are sold for $1.00 each, medium hearts are sold for $5.00 each, and large hearts are sold for $10.00 each. Votes will correlate with the dollar amount of the heart purchased. $1.00 heart equals 1 vote, $5.00 heart equals 5 votes, and $10.00 heart equals 10 votes. The King or Queen of Hart will be announced prior to dismissal on Thursday, February 13.
Working with Living Water International the funds raised will be used to build our 8th well. The well will be dug in a community in Central America, India or Africa and will provide the citizens with clean water.
I am so proud of our students and community as this project falls directly under the Lovejoy ISD Graduate Profile of Works for Justice in the Community. Our students are learning to respond in love and service to those in need and strive to move beyond their own self-interests through their relationships with others and community service.
Our goal last year was to raise $1000.00. We were struck by the overwhelming generosity of our Hart students and families, we raised $ 3677.68!!!!
Please help support a great cause and crown your teacher King or Queen of Hart, then join us for a special presentation to the Living Water International during Hart Beat on Thursday!!

NEW!!! Notes from Nurse Alli
Just a gentle reminder that strep/flu/cold season is upon us. We have had several confirmed cases of Flu B, Flu A and strep throat. The main symptoms of the cases we have seen are stomach ache, headache, vomiting, sore throat, cough, fever, and dizziness. It seems that many children are complaining of headache and/or stomach ache at the very beginning then the fever seems to come with slower progression than typical flu symptoms. If I send your child home with a fever (or vomiting) or if your child is running fever at home, they MAY NOT return to school until they have been fever and vomiting free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of Advil, Tylenol or Multi-symptom cold relief medication. This is not only to protect all of their classmates, but also to protect your child whose immune system is already working hard.
Please click here or refer to the Lovejoy link provided (under the Clinic Department for Hart) for more helpful Flu information:
It is a good time to review proper handwashing practices with young children. Using soap and rubbing vigorously under running water for about 30 seconds to one minute is important to get rid of the germs that cause the flu. Asking young children to "sing the ABCs" at a steady rate while washing will help them reach the 30 second mark
.
HEAD LICE
This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidents involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:
-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast
*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having and sign/symptoms listed above they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidences of lice.
For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 469-742-8156 or email me at
[email protected]
.
Thank you so much for helping to keep everyone healthy this season!

Receive Text Messages from Lovejoy ISD
Lovejoy ISD is adding text messaging capability to SchoolMessenger, the system we use for phone calls and email communications for information such as school closings due to inclement weather. SchoolMessenger will be configured to send text messages to your wireless phone number(s), with your approval.
To get started, please confirm we have your accurate wireless phone number in the PowerSchool Parent Portal and then opt-in to participate by following the directions below:
In order to receive messages from Lovejoy ISD or your student's school via SMS text we must have your wireless number(s) in SchoolMessenger and receive an "Opt-In Confirmation" from your wireless device.
You can easily opt-in by simply sending "Y" (or "Yes"), via text message, to our SchoolMessenger Short Code number 67587.
The wireless number(s) you enter into the PowerSchool Parent Portal are updated nightly. If you update your wireless number, or add a new number, in the PowerSchool Parent Portal, the new number will automatically be sent an Opt-In message.
To access the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please click here. If you have any questions, or if we may be of any assistance, please contact Stacey Dillon at 469.742.8003.
