Message from the Principal
Dear Hart Families,
On February 4, we will be hosting a "Student Support" coffee from 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the Leopard's Lair. Please join us if you would like to learn more about our systems for supporting students including PST (Problem Solving Team), 504, Special Education, and GT.
We were recently informed that two Hart students will have their PTA Reflection entries moving on to the State level competition. For perspective, there were around 60,000 entries and only around 3% are chosen to advance. This year, the theme was "Look Within." Congratulations to:
-Intermediate (3-5) - Camryn G.
-Primary (K-2) - Brock F.
We are so proud of you!
With a Full HeArt,
NEW!!! Queen/ King of Hart
Beginning Thursday, February 6, Hart Helpers will be selling paper hearts in the Hart cafeteria before school and during lunch. Heart sales will conclude on Thursday, February 13 after Hart Beat.
Students can purchase hearts for the teacher and/or staff member they would like to see crowned as King or Queen of Hart! Small hearts are sold for $1.00 each, medium hearts are sold for $5.00 each, and large hearts are sold for $10.00 each. Votes will correlate with the dollar amount of the heart purchased. $1.00 heart equals 1 vote, $5.00 heart equals 5 votes, and $10.00 heart equals 10 votes. The King or Queen of Hart will be announced prior to dismissal on Thursday, February 13.
Working with Living Water International the funds raised will be used to build our 8th well. The well will be dug in a community in Central America, India or Africa and will provide the citizens with clean water. This effort falls directly under the Lovejoy ISD Graduate Profile of Works for Justice in the Community.
The Lovejoy graduate has experienced the satisfaction of giving and service. She/He has learned through service projects to comprehend the abstract ideas of justice and community. The student has begun to appreciate the need to couple ethical thinking with ethical action. Ultimately, the Lovejoy graduate has learned to respond in love and service to those in need and now strives to move beyond self-interest in relationships with others.
Our goal last year was to raise $1000.00. We were struck by the overwhelming generosity of Hart students and families, we raised $ 3677.68!!!!
Please help support a great cause and crown your teacher King or Queen of Hart!!!

NEW!!! Notes from Nurse Alli
We have had several confirmed cases of Flu B, Flu A and strep throat. In addition to flu and strep we have had several students out with a stomach bug. It appears that the predominate symptoms of the cases we have seen are stomach ache, vomiting, sore throat, headache, and fatigue followed by cough, fever, and dizziness. If I send your child home with a fever (or vomiting) or if your child is running fever at home, they MAY NOT return to school until they have been fever and vomiting free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of Advil, Tylenol or Multi-symptom cold relief medication. This is not only to protect all of their classmates, but also to protect your child whose immune system is already working hard.
Please click here or refer to the Lovejoy link provided (under the Clinic Department for Hart) for more helpful Flu information:
It is a good time to review proper handwashing practices with young children. Using soap and rubbing vigorously under running water for about 30 seconds to one minute is important to get rid of the germs that cause the flu. Asking young children to "sing the ABCs" at a steady rate while washing will help them reach the 30 second mark
This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidents involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:
-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast
*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having and sign/symptoms listed above they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidences of lice.
For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.
Thank you so much for helping to keep everyone healthy this season!
