Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

We had so much fun celebrating Chad Collins, president of our school board, on Wednesday.  He spent time opening car doors, folk dancing with third graders, reading to students, and having lunch with a group of our 4th grade Hart Helpers.  I also had the opportunity to interview Mr. Collins on the announcements.  Here are a few things we learned about him:
  • He is the president of a Health Care Company
  • He is the president of our school board
  • He makes no money as the president of the school board
  • He loves working with the students of Lovejoy and giving back to our community
  • He attended elementary school at Lovejoy Elementary (in the little red school house)
  • He has three children who all attended Hart during their elementary years (Caroline is in 8th grade, Chief is a Junior at the high school, and Carson is a freshman in college)
  • His favorite subject in school was Language Arts because he loves to read
  • He played football when he was younger all the way through college
  • His favorite color is Red
  • He loves pizza
  • He is rooting for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl (He is a Patrick Mahomes fan!)
We are so thankful for his service and everything he does to support our students, staff, and families. He exemplifies One Heart, One Lovejoy!!

Notes from Nurse Alli

Just a gentle reminder that strep/flu/cold season is upon us. We have had several confirmed cases of Flu B, Flu A and strep throat. In addition to flu and strep we have had several students out with a stomach bug. It appears that the predominate symptoms of the cases we have seen are stomach ache, vomiting, sore throat, headache, and fatigue followed by cough, fever, and dizziness. If I send your child home with a fever (or vomiting) or if your child is running fever at home, they MAY NOT return to school until they have been fever and vomiting free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of Advil, Tylenol or Multi-symptom cold relief medication. This is not only to protect all of their classmates, but also to protect your child whose immune system is already working hard.
Please click here or refer to the Lovejoy link provided (under the Clinic Department for Hart) for more helpful Flu information:

It is a good time to review proper handwashing practices with young children. Using soap and rubbing vigorously under running water for about 30 seconds to one minute is important to get rid of the germs that cause the flu. Asking young children to "sing the ABCs" at a steady rate while washing will help them reach the 30 second mark .
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 469-742-8156 or email me at [email protected] .
Thank you so much for helping to keep everyone healthy this season!
