Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Hart Family and Friends,

It has been a full week with Halloween, Early Release Day, and our Mother/Son dance tonight at 6:30!  It is hard to believe it is already November and it sure is bringing crazy weather.

We are excited to welcome a special speaker after our General PTA Meeting next Tuesday, November 7th.  Sarah Pierson with the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County will be here to discuss risks our children face online, including privacy, inappropriate content and cyberbullying.  This is a great opportunity for us as parents to know how to respond to these risks and to feel equipped to protect our children online.  We hope you can join us!

We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

New! Lovejoy Letter Campaign

Dear Hart Families,
We need your help for an upcoming opportunity to let our teachers and staff know how much our Lovejoy ISD community values them and what an impact each one has on our children! The district provides an extra check for teachers the day before Thanksgiving break.

In addition to those checks, again this year we would love to include a hand written letter from Lovejoy ISD families expressing gratitude and appreciation to each teacher and staff on your campus. Letters should simply be a #shortandsweet note of thanks that expresses how much #weloveourteachers.

We would be so grateful if you could write a letter or letter(s) to any teacher or teacher(s)/staff, either current or past, that have been valuable to your child(ren)'s educational experience.
Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher's name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the front office by Friday November 10th.
The letter campaign has become such a meaningful tradition. We really appreciate the time and effort your contributions will make again to this year's letter campaign.

Sincerely,
Anne Smith
Lovejoy Letter Campaign Coordinator 2017

Important Morning Drop Off Reminder

Parents, please remember to drop your children off in front of the school or drop off in the south side parking lot. The school opens at 7:30 a.m.

The north side parking lot is reserved for buses only. There's no drop off on the north side of the building in the mornings.

Thank you for your support.
Help Us Keep Our Kids Safe

Please remember and remind grandparents and visitors to come through the front office and sign in when visiting the school. When you are in the building, attending events, volunteering, etc...please do not open side doors for anyone. All Lovejoy ISD staff carry badges that enable entry. No one will ever need help opening doors. Please help us keep everyone safe by keeping our doors closed at all times. If you attend Hart Beat, for this one event only, please feel free to enter the door by the gym and sign in. Thank you so much for your participation in keeping our kids safe.
School Bus Safety Practices

We would like to remind everyone of the following school bus safety practices:

*When you see a school bus, assume children will be in the area, and take extra care: leave lots of space around the bus.

*When the bus turns on its flashing yellow lights, the bus is either preparing to stop at a railroad crossing or preparing to stop to pick up or drop off children.  Please slow down and prepare to stop.

*When the bus turns on its flashing red lights traffic must stop in both directions.  Never pass a school bus with flashing red lights.

Thank you for your assistance in helping to keep our students safe.

RESPONSIBILITY
a person that is able to be trusted to do what is right or to do the things that are expected or required

ILLNESS

Currently we are seeing a rise in confirmed cases of Flu and Strep. Many of the Flu cases are also combined with Strep. Please inform your healthcare provider (if you take your child in for a doctor's appointment), that we are seeing Flu. At the beginning of onset, the main symptoms seem to be headache, stomach ache and body aches, followed by fever and extreme tired-ness. A short lived stomach virus is also going around causing vomiting/diarrhea, headache, and stomach ache (some are not experiencing all of these symptoms-and some are only having lower GI symptoms). Some are NOT experiencing fever with this stomach virus. This virus seems to be lasting about 24 hours.

Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

HEAD LICE

This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidences involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:

-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast

*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having any sign/symptoms listed above, they are sent to the clinic for assessment. For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.

Thank you for your cooperation!
