Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

We have no school tomorrow.  Teachers will participate in professional development, learn together, and plan engaging and rigorous learning for their students.

We hope you can join us for our 1st Annual Tailgate (I sure hope it becomes a yearly tradition!) at Hart Elementary tomorrow from 4:30-6:30. We will be grilling burgers and hotdogs on the north side of the building. We have plenty of food for all!

We moved the time to 4:30 since so many of our girls will be cheering during the 1st quarter.  I know they have to be dropped off at 5:30, so feel free to stop by early and feed them before drop off (and then come on back to Hart since the game doesn't start until 7:00!) Buses will shuttle anyone parking at Hart to and from the high school. This is a great way to avoid the parking struggles at the high school! Please RSVP using the following form to let us know you will be joining us!

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Reminder... There is no school for students this Friday, October 26, 2018. The office will be closed.

Red Ribbon Week 2018
Schedule of Events
October 29-November 2, 2018

Anything is "Pawsible" when you are drug free!!
Red Ribbon Week is a special week recognized around the country. This week-long celebration of events is designed to educate and increase awareness about drug prevention. At Hart Elementary, we consider this a great time to pledge to be drug free and to reflect on ways that we can maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle. Red Ribbon Week activities will kick off on Monday, October 29th.  During the week of October 29th - November 2nd, we will emphasize making responsible choices that can help students be and do their very best in school and in life. We would like to encourage everyone to bring healthy snacks to school and to participate in the fun dress-up days.

Let's Participate in a Healthy
Activity that Benefits Our Community !
According to research, youth who feel they are contributing members of a caring community are less likely to be involved in illegal drug use. As part of our Red Ribbon Week activities, Lovejoy students will have the opportunity to connect to the Collin County community. We will emphasize participating in a healthy activity that benefits others by participating in a service project to support Allen Community Outreach (ACO). Each year during the month of October, ACO has a fundraiser called the Caring Coins Drive in which they collect donations of spare change to support the ongoing needs in Collin County. Let's encourage our students to contribute to this service organization by bringing in their American coins and/or bills each day of Red Ribbon Week. Their generous contributions will assist residents of Allen, Lucas, and Fairview who are in financial need.

AUTHOR VISIT

The author visit was a HUGE success! Thank you PTA again for funding a great author - Troy Cummings lit a fire under some of the kids! I have been hearing all kinds of things like, "I want to be an author." "I am making a comic book with monsters!"  "Look at this monster - it is a combination of a starfish and a pizza!" "I am learning to draw like Troy Cummings!" So inspiring!

A special thank you to Courtney Beal. She brings incredible incredible talent to these events!  Her creative vision for the displays in the hallway and the countless hours spent making them for our author is appreciated by all!  Troy was in awe when he walked in!

Another shout out to the Breaux family for providing the BBQ for our author dinner with our three lucky students that got to spend an evening with Troy. It was a memorable evening for Ellison E., Camryn G. and Leighton T.

PUMPKINS

Lovejoy Letter Campaign
A Message from the Lovejoy Letter Liaison
Dear Campus Families:

We need your help to let our teachers and staff know how much our Lovejoy ISD community values them and the impact they have on our children! Teachers' salaries include a 1 ½% payment (annual compensation) on the Friday before Thanksgiving break. In addition to the payment the staff receives, we would like to include a handwritten letter from Lovejoy families expressing gratitude and appreciation to each teacher and staff member on our campuses.

We would be so grateful if you would write a letter or letter(s) to any teacher(s) or staff member(s), either current or past, who have played a valuable role in your child(ren)'s educational experience. Please clearly label the envelope with the teacher's/staff name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return it to the front office of the applicable school by Friday, November 9.

The letter campaign has become a meaningful Lovejoy tradition. We appreciate the time and effort your contributions will make to this year's letter campaign. Remember #shortandsweet #showappreciation.

Sincerely,
