Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

As many of you already know, our Leopard Volleyball team has made it to the UIL State Tournament and will play their next game on Friday, November 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

Students who wish to attend the game can receive an approved absence by coming to school on Friday and waiting to check out until after 10:00 a.m. By waiting until after 10:00 a.m. to check out of school, it provides students an opportunity to share in the State Championship experience while also allowing them to be counted present for state attendance/funding purposes.

We also know that many of you will be heading out of town early to celebrate Thanksgiving week. By waiting until after 10:00 a.m. to check out of school, it will allow students to enjoy Hart Beat as well as be counted present for state attendance/funding purposes.

Today, Thursday November 21 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) is the deadline to RSVP for Hart Beat. Please email Heather Bouska, [email protected] to RSVP. Any email received after noon WILL NOT be included in the print and you will need to check in at the office tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow, November 22 is the last day to purchase Thankful cards. As of today, November 21, we have collected $911.00! We are so close to our goal of $1000.00 and being able to adopt 10 children!  Thank you everyone for your participation.

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

No school November 25, 2019 through November 29, 2019. We wish you and your family a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Break. We will see you back at school on Monday, December 2, 2019.

Last day to purchase Thankful Cards is Friday, November 22!!!

Project Thankful is an opportunity for Hart students, families, and staff members to send a card to tell someone that they are thankful for him or her. We asked the students to design cards using the theme "Thankful". 5 winning designs were made into cards and are being sold in the cafeteria during lunch from November 11- November 22. The cost of the card is $1.00 per card.  All the money collected will be used to adopt children through the Allen Community Outreach (ACO) Holiday Adoption Program, www.acocares.org .  Last year we raised $921.00 and adopted 9 children!!!! This is an event that all staff and students really enjoy and look forward to.

Thank you,
Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Scoville

Thank you Hart PTA for sponsoring this event!!!!

The library is closed next week, but Sora is not!!!! Read ebooks and audiobooks 24/7 with Sora from Overdrive. This free app is an easier way for LISD elementary students to access this resource. Students are able to login using their name and ID number. Below  are directions for how to get started with Sora. Happy Reading!

We are finishing week 2 of our 5 week Inside Out lesson. It is going fabulous and the students are really enjoying it. Inside Out is one of those movies that never gets old!

In addition to the classroom lessons you can always have conversations at home regarding emotions. Here are some conversation starters.

Dealing with emotions
Whilst Riley's parents wanted her to be happy and for everything to be ok, we begin to realise that we actually need all those other emotions and that it is ok and even important to be able to recognise them. Sadness, joy, anger, frustration and fear will all come in to play at different times. It is how we work with these emotions that determines the extent of their effect on us.
  • What happens when we try to suppress other emotions?
  • What other emotions do you think could be added?
  • What emotions are vying for your attention lately? Nervousness, anxiety, etc
  • What are some things you could do if you feel angry? Afraid? Frustrated? Anxious?
  • Can you recall a time when you could have felt much worse but did something to help you feel better?
As always, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Message from Nurse Alli

Just a gentle reminder that strep/flu/cold season is upon us. We have had a couple confirmed cases of Flu B. We have also seen a flu type virus (that is not flu), a stomach virus causing mostly headache, stomach ache, and vomiting (lasting about 24-48 hours), and also a rise in strep throat. If I send your child home with a fever (or vomiting) or if your child is running fever at home, they MAY NOT return to school until they have been fever and vomiting free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of Advil, Tylenol or Multi-symptom cold relief medication. This is not only to protect all of their classmates, but also to protect your child whose immune system is already working hard.

On another note, I am having many children bring medication to school with them and then the child is bringing the medication to me: ALL medications MUST be brought to the clinic by an adult. A medication permission form must be filled out for every child and every medication; this includes cough drops and throat lozenges.

If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed. Please email
[email protected] and  [email protected] with the date and reason for the absence. You can also use the School Dismissal App to report an illnesses. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

If your child has physical restrictions from activity, please email Coach Eric Hill, [email protected] and Nurse Alli, [email protected]. Contacting Coach and Nurse Alli directly will ensure the limitation is noted and alternate plans can be made.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 469-742-8156 or email me at  [email protected].

Thank you so much for helping to keep everyone healthy this season!

Nurse Alli

Lost and Found

As the temperature outside drops the Hart lost and found fills up! Next time you are on campus, be sure to take a look and see if any items belong to your student. All items left in the lost and found at Christmas break will be donated to the ACO. As a reminder, please write your students name on all jackets, lunch boxes, water bottles, and anything else that may get left behind!
Thank you!!!

WASTE FREE WEDNESDAY
   NOVEMBER/DECEMBER

Starting in November, every teacher will have a box in their classrooms for markers that are out of ink. At the end of December, the markers will be collected and sent in to Crayola to be recycled. We will  continue to collect and recycle thr oughout the year. We have the ability to turn old markers into new markers, and keep lots of plastic out of landfills!

Let's start with a Wednesday and turn it into a habit!

For information on how to recycle markers that are out of ink at home, please visit -

The Allen Americans are excited to invite all students, staff, family and friends of Hart Elementary School to their game against The Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday, January 11th. LHS Visual Arts Campus Exhibition
Join us as we celebrate the fourth annual LHS Campus Exhibition. We are excited to celebrate 55 thoughtfully selected works that exemplify the variety of vision, voice, and process our students take on in our LJVA studios.  The work juried for this show was chosen from all levels of study in the LHS Visual Arts program as examples of excellence and innovation by our LJVA Gallery Managers; Kiley Boots, McKenna Christiansen, Grace Flinchbaugh, and Hunter Ruiz. We invite you to come and see this wonderful selection of works during school hours until November 18th.
