9th Annual Lovejoy ISD Fine Arts Festival - November 30th and December 1st

We are excited to invite you to a magical weekend of experiencing the incredible performing and rich visual arts programs in Lovejoy ISD.  Each elementary campus choir will perform Saturday from 10AM - 11:30AM and all elementary students will have visual art on display in the LHS auxiliary gym throughout the event.  We hope you will plan to see your child's art, attend the elementary choir performances and then stay to visit the SCIS, WSMS, and LHS performances and exhibits.  The festival is a wonderful opportunity to see where your child can participate as they move up to SCIS and beyond.

There are Fine Arts Festival volunteer opportunities available for our Lovejoy ISD elementary parents.  Please take a moment to read this  flyer to see if you can help.  If you have questions please contact  [email protected].

The WorryWoo Monsters  is an award winning series of books and plush dolls written and illustrated by Andi Green. Emotions themselves are turned into lovable quirky characters that embark on delightful journeys of self-awareness. Created to promote healthy emotional wellness, each WorryWoo adventure concludes with an upbeat message of "Hey, it's OK" and present the perfect opportunity to openly discuss topics that don't have easy answers.  Kinder and 2nd grade will be beginning a 6 week series of the Worry Woo Monsters.  I would like to thank Crystal Klein for graciously donating The WorryWoo Monsters book series.

Other grade levels will be working on Kindness and Caring beginning with my favorite story, Each Kindness.

Flu Season Reminders/Illness:

We are now heading into flu season. The most common symptoms of flu seem to be stomach ache, cough, fever/body aches, headache, and tired-ness. Currently we are seeing a stomach virus (12-24 hour virus), some strep throat, a virus that seems to be lasting about 2-3 days, and a lot of allergy related symptoms due to the weather changes.

Frequent handwashing is vital to keeping illness at bay. Now is a good time to review proper handwashing practices with young children. Using soap and rubbing vigorously under running water for about 30 seconds to one minute is important to get rid of the germs that cause the flu and other viruses. Asking young children to "sing the ABCs" at a steady rate while washing will help them reach the 30 second mark.

Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed. Please email [email protected] and [email protected] with the date and reason for the absence. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

Project Thankful Cards

As we enter the season of giving thanks we would like to remind everyone that we are participating in Project Thankful Cards again this year. Project Thankful Cards is a way for Hart students, staff, families and friends to tell someone how much they are appreciated. We asked the students to design cards using the theme "Thankful". 2 winners from each grade level were selected. The winning designs were made into cards and are being sold this week for $1.00 each. This years winners are Ava W. and Avery 1st grade, Cara B. and Kelsey S. 2nd grade, Madeline L. and Caroline M. 3rd grade, and Marlee W. and Claire B. 4th grade. All the money collected will be used to adopt children through Allen Community Outreach. Last year we were able to adopt 6 children and made their Christmas wishes come true. We would love to surpass that number this year and fulfill Christmas dreams! Our goal is 8-10 children.  Project Thankful Cards will be on sale during lunch in the cafeteria until Friday, November 16.

Circle of Partners

Lovejoy ISD is pleased to welcome Tutoring 101 to the Circle of Partners . Tutoring 101 and Lovejoy ISD have formed a revenue generating/sharing partnership to bring their services to Lovejoy families. Please see below for several offerings.

Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of one letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.

What is your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?
Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class. Tutoring 101 helps high scorers get top scores, average students raise their scores and poor test takers achieve the scores colleges want. Tutoring 101 students have earned admissions and scholarships, and have saved thousands of tuition dollars every year.
  • Specialize in working with individual students and their specific needs
  • Day-of-test strategies
  • One-on-one/small groups
  • PSAT/SAT Classes: Tues or Thurs or Saturdays
