Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser
Dear Hart Families,

Time sure flies when you are having fun! October 13th marks the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Along with welcoming the beginning of the 2nd quarter, we will be welcoming back 50 additional students! We are so thrilled to be able to connect with all of our students in person or virtually.

First quarter report cards will be available in Power School on October 16th. Teachers will be working to schedule virtual conferences with you in October and November to discuss your child's progress.

The beginning of a new quarter is a good time to offer a few reminders:
  • School start time is 7:55 a.m. Students may begin arriving at 7:30. Students who are not in their classrooms at 7:55 will be counted tardy.
  • Dismissal is 3:10 p.m.
  • Please use School Dismissal Manager and make an "exception" if your child will have a dismissal change.
  • Per the district policy, we are not allowing any outside food or drink. This includes birthday treats.

Please be sure to scroll all the way through this message. We have new and exciting information to share. Reminder, there is no school on Friday, October 9 and Monday, October 12. Please take the time to enjoy the fall weather and relax. This is a great opportunity to reflect and rest. We are ready to see what the 2nd quarter has in store!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

With a full HeART,
Lacey Moser
NEW!!! SEL with Mrs. Scoville
Students and Teachers are loving the SEL lessons. Next week in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) we will be learning how family members, peers, school personnel, and community members can help contribute to school and life success. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, chelsea_scoville@lovejoyisd.net.
Hart will be a hosting a Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Drive-Thru Parade at the end of October. This is an optional family project to be completed at home. Pumpkins should be decorated as your favorite book character. You can use paint, markers, yarn, pipe cleaners, fabric, cardboard, or even carve the pumpkin to create your character. Drop off and pick up details will be coming soon.
Dear Parents,

Due to technical difficulties, pledge recordings were not done this week. There is still time to complete the release form if you would like your student to participate. Recordings will begin on Tuesday, October 13.

Hart has live morning announcements every day. Our 4th graders produce and anchor the show. In the past, every class has been able to send small groups of students to lead The Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, The Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas State Flag, the Hart Promise, and the Moment of Silence. This year we will be recording students in their classrooms and play the recording on the announcements. All students will have an opportunity to participate. The morning broadcasts are recorded and sent to the virtual students, so a release form is required. If you would like your child to participate, please click here to complete the release form. If you do not wish your child to participate, you do not have to do anything. If you have questions please contact suzanne_hart@lovejoyisd.net.
Picture day is Wednesday, October 14. Order forms were sent home today. To order online go to mylifetouch.com and use Picture Day ID EVTH6H2R3. Virtual students were sent a link to a sign up genius on Tuesday, October 6. Please sign up for a time. On campus students will have pictures taken throughout the day. If you are a virtual student and did not receive the link, please email heather_bouska@lovejoyisd.net.
NEW!!! Yearbook Picture Request

NEW!!! A word from Nurse Allison
This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidents involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat and prevent it from happening again! Here’s what to look for:
-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast
*We no longer conduct “line-up” classroom lice checks but if a child is having signs or symptoms listed above, they are sent to the clinic for assessment. We do not give specific information on particular children or classrooms that have had incidents of lice. However, if there is a student in your child class that has a known case of lice, paper notification will be sent home with your child at the end of that day. For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab.

We are seeing quite a bit of strep, allergy related symptoms, and a cold like virus (not coronavirus). The predominant symptoms of this virus seem to be stomach ache, sore throat, low grade fever and headache.

Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

*** Please copy Nurse Alli on (ALL) absences your student might have. Due to the current pandemic situation, I am tracking every absence. I need this information as to why your student might be absent whether it is for a routine dr appt or illness.***

I have had many questions from parents in regards to symptoms that their child may be exhibiting and whether exclusion from school is needed. I am sharing the following information directly from the Lovejoy ISD Planning Guide which is located on our website. On page 24 you will find some helpful information in regards to Health Pre-Screening for Staff and Students. I am hoping this will help clear up some questions. Please click here to access our Planning Guide.
Hello Hart Families,

On October 4, 2020 we launched our 1st Hart Headlines newsletter of the 2020-2021 school year. Please click here to view the newsletter.

We are excited to announce that Hart PTO has secured Dennis Lee and Nana Puddin' again this year. Dennis and Nana Puddin' will be coming to us virtually this year on Thursday, October 15. The theme for this year is "Gravity". "Gravity" is all about filling up your Space Back-Pack with the choices THAT LIFT YOU AND YOUR WORLD UP, while avoiding the character choices that often weigh us down. I believe we all can use a refresher in that department. A ZOOM link will be provided closer to Thursday.

As a reminder, there is no spirit wear pick up this week. The next pick up day is Friday, October 16. Pre-Order sales should be available for pick up on that day.

Hart is in need of gel hand sanitizer. It needs to be at least 60% alcohol. Teachers have stated that the gel style hand sanitizer is easier for the students to use. They have plenty of liquid hand sanitizer, wipes and spray. Gel hand sanitizer can be sent to school with your student or dropped off in the front foyer. Thank you for helping to keep the kids and staff safe!

I also wanted to remind you that there is still time to become a member of the PTO. Things do look much different than years past. We are still booking engaging and positive programs for the students as well as providing teacher and staff support. Please click here to visit the Hart PTO website. Don't forget to register to become a member of the PTO and visit the spirit wear section!

Thank you for all of your support,
Dani Miller
PTO President
