Managers Message

Dear Caregivers,

Heads up: Annual Required Learning (ARL) starts next month

Annual Required Learning (ARL) in HealthStream opens on April 24, with course work to be completed no later than June 19.

Required annual online courses provide valuable knowledge or a refresher of information we all need to ensure a safe environment for our customers and each other and to provide the best care for our patients. This is why we take it so seriously.

Once again, this year’s curriculum builds on feedback that coursework should be relevant and avoid unnecessary re-work for those already proficient in the material. That’s why this year’s courses are shorter and most include an option to test out with a pre-test grade of 80%.

This year’s schedule is once again designed to accommodate the busy vacation season by starting in the spring and ending before most schools close for the summer.

Please watch for more information in the coming weeks.

Happenings at IAH

Colleague Longevity Celebration

Independence at Home held a Colleague's Longevity Celebration. Fifty-seven colleagues were recognized for up to 25 years of service. Each colleague was given a longevity pin, certificate of recognition and roses. Thank you all for your hard work!

Independence at Home Caregiver, Daniel Adomako, escorted his client, Raul Grande, to the University of Connecticut to present Geno Auriemma with a portrait Raul personally painted himself. Raul met Geno last month and decided it would be the perfect time to create such a lovely portrait commemorating the meeting. Raul worked as a sketch artist for The New York Times and The Hartford Courant.

Testimonials

Meet Julie Castrogiovanni, intake coordinator at Independence at Home.

Julie does an amazing job providing information for IAH services. Julie helps the clients and their families navigate the IAH onboarding process. She recently received this wonderful testimonial:

”I just got off the phone with Julie. She was kind, professional and an amazing help. She was a former student of mine from way back in the day.” Thank you, Julie, for your dedication, compassion and hard work!"

Sakya Gaston

Independence at Home

"I just wanted to send a kudos about one of the Independence at Home caregivers, Sakya. She has been working with a client in Waterbury and I have been very impressed with her. She is very engaging with the client as well as demonstrating good carryover of all of the teaching I have provided. The client has ALS and since Sakya has been working with him I have noticed an improvement in his spirits. I just wanted to pass along what a great job she is doing."
