HAWF news & updates
May 2020
Hello Everyone -- It's a pleasure to be writing to you on Commencement Day 2020 ! What an exciting time, for the University itself and for the graduating students most of all.

I hope that you and your families are staying safe and doing well.

Let me lead this month's newsletter with two opportunities to become more involved and engaged with this wine and food community: to host a wine tasting with your own Club or SIG, and to join our SIG Succession planning meeting on Friday, June 19. More info is below.

First, I'd like to highlight the two newest members to be featured in our Members profile page, Rodolfo Neirotti and Maher Ezzedine. Welcome!

How about you? If you're in the industry and aren't yet featured on the Members page, please let me know. If you're already there and need to update your information, please let me know that as well. The farther we can expand our bandwidth, the more we'll be able to impact the careers (for new alums, say!) and the awareness within our community of salient issues around wine and food.

Which brings me to the two opportunities to become involved.

Host a Virtual Wine Tasting with Your Club or SIG
Has the programming for your Club or SIG stalled during COVID? I can hardly blame you, but many of us within the SIG are well-equipped to organize and lead virtual wine and/or food tastings.

Here's an example. Wine educator (and HBS alum) Adam Chase and I have put our heads together to develop a virtual wine tasting and webinar that highlights the business and political implications of COVID-10 on the wine world. Adam leads the wine tasting and shares information about the regions of focus, while I discuss COVID's impact on the people and economies of wine producing regions such as California, South Africa and Chile.

It's a fun and topical way to jump start your Club or SIG's programming. There are many directions such an event can go, however, so please be in touch if you have ideas of your own or would like to brainstorm. I'd be thrilled to suggest other alums and their areas of expertise.

Succession Planning Meeting on June 19
Please join us, virtually of course, for a succession planning call about the future of the wine and food SIG. Whether you're looking to fill a leadership role or provide support in another capacity, we appreciate your willingness to help us grow and improve.

Please complete this form to register. We'll send dial-in information closer to the date.

We'll gather live at noon EST / 9 am PST on Friday, June 19. If that timing doesn't work for you, I'll be sure to send follow-up information to everyone who registers.

I'm looking forward to your ideas, and to seeing what the future holds for HAWF.

Signing off for now, friends. Please be in touch with your news and thoughts.

Thank you for reading, and take good care --

Warm regards,
Cathy Huyghe, HAWF Founder
