November's Artist of the Month
From November 15th through the end of the year, we'll be showing the photography of local resident Ian Wickstead.
Ian Wickstead has been photographing in and around the Hudson Valley for over 20 years. Early on, the work of Edward Weston and Wynn Bullock inspired him to explore landscapes with a focus on form and light. Over time, his approach shifted toward more abstract and impressionistic imagery, expanding into a range of subjects and styles. He lives in Poughkeepsie, where he continues to develop his photographic practice through ongoing observation and experimentation.
We are always looking for new artists who want to display their work in the Library! Please email programs@pvlibrary.org for more information.

Eleanor and Franklin: Public Admiration, Personal Strife w/ Anthony Musso
Friday, November 14th @ 6pm
| | |
Join us to welcome back local author and public speaker Anthony Musso for a program on the lives and marriage of Eleanor and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
During Franklin and Elearnor's public service they accomplished numerous initiatives to bring the country back from the Great Depression, during World War II and establishing groundbreaking policies and programs to better serve the American public. Due to Franklin's disability, he relied on the First Lady to be his partner in achieving those goals. As a team, they had an enormous positive impact on the nation and its citizens.
However, the couple's personal life was marred with indiscretions and loneliness, which had a negative effect on their marriage and children. This program takes a look at the two sides of the Roosevelts' lives and how despite internal strife they together accomplished great feats.
Anthony Musso completed a 38-year career as a writer, editor and media spokesperson for the US Postal Service Headquarters in 2008. He was also a freelance correspondent for the Middletown Times-Herald Record and journalist and weekly columnist for the Poughkeepsie Journal. He is the author of 11 books and is a frequent lecturer at various venues throughout the tri-state area, including the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, historical societies, colleges and libraries.
