2026 STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS

Do you recognize this building? Before becoming the beautiful Downtown Library we know today, the building was used as a Redwood City Fire Department station up until 1984, when construction began on Station 9 on Marshall Street.

Join us on March 23 at 6pm for this year's State of the City address, "Grounded in History. Shaping the Future," where we'll be guiding attendees through a series of stories rooted in places across Redwood City that reflect the priorities shaping our community today. City leaders will highlight how Redwood City’s history connects to current initiatives and future direction, offering reflections on progress and what lies ahead for residents, businesses and neighborhoods. Attend in person or tune in online—don’t miss it!

Light refreshments will be available beginning at 5:30pm, with the program starting at 6pm.

NEWS FROM THE FOUNDATION

April 1 is Library Giving Day 2026, an annual one-day fundraising event to support our libraries. Help celebrate Library Giving Day by donating to the Redwood City Library Foundation to support RCPL initiatives important in our community.

Donate by check or online, with a one-time or monthly donation, or even donate a car. You can make a general donation, attend an event, or support a specific need. An important RCLF initiative this spring is to purchase books for the Summer Learning Challenge (SLC) with the goal of raising $40,000 by May 1.  Every summer, over 6,000 Redwood City, Fair Oaks, and Redwood Shores students commit to read and grow as part of the SLC. Kids who sign up receive a free book, pledge to read during the summer, and receive another book when they complete the program.  Summer learning loss is real for many kids—especially those with learning challenges, English as a second language, or from low-income households. The SLC helps stop that slide, sparks a lifelong love of reading, allowing kids who might not have ever owned a book to start their own home libraries.

You can celebrate Library Giving Day and invest in the future of local children by donating to SLC. Learn more and donate here.
