Message from the Middle School Dean of Learning and Instruction
Have you ever wondered what the best brand of bubbles was? To answer that question, you’d first need to determine what you meant by “best.” Perhaps you were curious about where you could find the most bacteria on our campus or how you could create a device that would help people reach an item off of a top shelf at a supermarket. 

This year, the middle school students participated in one of three ways for the annual Yavneh Science Fair: a traditional experiment, a product test, or an engineering challenge. Inspired by questions, interests, or even a family vacation, students learned about scientific methodologies through their projects. Read more
Welcome Merav, 5th-8th Grade Hebrew Teacher
We welcome Merav Londner to the Yavneh faculty! Yavneh will be teaching a variety of Hebrew classes in fifth grade and middle school. Merav Londner holds a BA in social work and journalism from Bar Ilan university and most recently has been teaching Hebrew classes in the Bay Area. Merav has a true passion for Hebrew language, she believes in teaching Hebrew as a living language and considers her students partners in the learning process. Merav worked as a writer and reporter for various newspapers in Israel, writing many pieces on topics of education as well as family life, children and environmental topics. She worked at 'Beit Issie Shapiro' in Raanana promoting special needs awareness in teens and she served as an education officer in the IDF. Merav is happy to be a part of the Yavneh community and share her love and passion for the Hebrew language, Israeli culture while encouraging curiosity and independent thinking among her students. 

Merav moved to the bay area a year and a half ago with her husband and three kids. She is a writer and published short stories and poems in Hebrew. She likes reading, traveling, animals.

Figure8 App for Early Dismissal Days
To use the Figure8 app to Request Dismissal on early dismissal days, change the Yavneh ride schedule for that day.

Locate the activity in the Rides Calendar, tap on the edit icon (three dots), select Edit Activity, and tap on Schedule. Change the end time to the early dismissal time for the day in question and tap "Done".

You can change the time back to the usual dismissal time after the early dismissal day has passed. Here’s a quick video tutorial.

YPA's 1st Hamantashen Bake

The YPA organized and sponsored a Middle School Night Out on Sunday at Laser Quest.
Middle School Science Fair
The Middle School Science Fair took place last Thursday. Mazal Tov to all the participants.
Students in Action
Kitah Hay went sailing today in Monterey. The class has been studying tall ships, the evolution of sailing and navigation, European sea exploration, and boat construction.
Spirit Week
This week is Spirit Week in honor of Rosh Chodesh Adar II. Monday was Pajama Day. 
Tuesday was Crazy Hair Day.
Class Spirit Day was Wednesday. Each class picked a theme. Kitah Gan Geffen were Kindness Ninjas. Their mission was to find people demonstrating kindness at Yavneh.
Today was Fancy Shmancy Day and tomorrow is Venachfoch Hu Day (Students dress as teachers, teachers dress as students).
