Reminders for the Week
A Message from the Head of School
“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer

Yesterday was a day of many firsts - parents gathered on our basketball court for our first outside milestone. My heart was full as I greeted parents without a car or Zoom screen between us. It was a shehehiyanu moment - a time for feeling grateful for getting to that moment. Read more
A Message from Coach Richard
A Message from Kitah Hay
Over the past few weeks in Hashavua, 5th graders have been sharing community service projects from Jewish Studies ramping up towards our milestone. The project this week is on rescuing birds.

Dear Yavneh Community,

Our names are Tevel, Sage, and Lola and we want to tell you about our community service project. It's about rescuing birds. The Book of Proverbs states,“A righteous person knows the needs of his beast, but the compassion of the wicked is cruelty.” Animals have needs and there are a lot of birds out there that need your help!

Beginning next week, you can have your child leave a donation in our “Bird Donations Box” located in Yavneh’s front lobby. Some ways to contribute are to donate money, bird seed/toys bought at a local pet store or you could even adopt a bird today! All donations are Mitzvot that help birds. Below are some great websites of organizations that help birds, which you can also donate too!
Here are the links:

Charity comes from the Hebrew word for “justice.” We want to do justice and help our flying friends!
Thank you!
Warmly, Tevel, Sage & Lola

(P.S. We will be making 6 custom t-shirts for the first 6 people that donate, so let Mr. Sleep know if you contributed.)
All proceeds from this year’s event will support Yavneh’s unique, specialized programming in art, music, physical education, and STEAM.

Each class will safely compete in 2 categories:
  1. Number of laps by class as a whole
  2. Amount of sponsorship money raised by class as a whole

Here are the current top 3 classes in the lead for $ raised:
  • 1st Kitah Bet
  • 2nd Kitah Chet
  • 3rd Kitah Dalet

We are still collecting flat donations from family, friends, and business sponsorships which all go towards class totals.

Business sponsorships of $200+ will be included in our event supportive digital media.

Friends and family donations due: Thursday, May 13th (Click here for sample email to send)

Donations may be made online or by check sent to the Yavneh Office (14855 Oka Road #100, Los Gatos, CA 95032). Please include your student(s) name on your check or online donation. Please note, when donating online, PayPal accounts are not needed. Click the yellow PayPal check out button. You will be prompted to check out as a PayPal guest or use your PayPal account. Questions? Please contact Lauren Carlinsky
Thank you to everyone who has already donated and to our
