Over the past few weeks in Hashavua, 5th graders have been sharing community service projects from Jewish Studies ramping up towards our milestone. The project this week is on rescuing birds.
Dear Yavneh Community,
Our names are Tevel, Sage, and Lola and we want to tell you about our community service project. It's about rescuing birds. The Book of Proverbs states,“A righteous person knows the needs of his beast, but the compassion of the wicked is cruelty.” Animals have needs and there are a lot of birds out there that need your help!
Beginning next week, you can have your child leave a donation in our “Bird Donations Box” located in Yavneh’s front lobby. Some ways to contribute are to donate money, bird seed/toys bought at a local pet store or you could even adopt a bird today! All donations are Mitzvot that help birds. Below are some great websites of organizations that help birds, which you can also donate too!
Here are the links:
Charity comes from the Hebrew word for “justice.” We want to do justice and help our flying friends!
Warmly, Tevel, Sage & Lola
(P.S. We will be making 6 custom t-shirts for the first 6 people that donate, so let Mr. Sleep
know if you contributed.)
