This Week  הַשָּׁבוּעַ
Message from Head of School
With less than a week before the Presidential election, COVID cases rising across the country, and controversy over the most recent Supreme Court nomination, it seems like we can’t escape from divisive news. It’s precisely at these times of fracture that we need to devote our energy to building connections and strengthening relationships.

I read the following quote from Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female associate justice of the Supreme Court, “We don’t accomplish anything in this world alone...and whatever happens, is the result of the whole tapestry of one’s life and all the weavings of individual threads from one to another that creates something.” Read more
In-Person/Family Partnership Update
As Thanksgiving and winter break approach, you might be thinking of traveling and/or gathering with family and friends. Please remember that the County of Santa Clara has specific guidelines that we all need to follow in order to continue to keep our community safe. Any children who travel by commercial airplane need to stay home for ten school stays after they return - proof of a negative COVID test does not shorten that time period. In addition, physical distancing, wearing masks and limiting large gatherings remain part of our county’s guidelines.

Students in Action
Kitah Alef returned to our indoor classrooms this week.
Students played a game to learn the Hebrew vowels.
Kitah Gimel got hands on in science and dissected owl pellets.
Kitah Hay created care packages for the homeless. Each package contained socks, snacks, water, hygienic items, a resource guide and a personalized card from the students. They exceeded their goal of 108 packages, with 154 packages total! The class beamed with a sense of pride in helping strangers who most desperately needed them. Mr. Sleep will arrange to deliver the care packages to various homeless shelters/organizations or persons in need. The virtual and in-person Kitah Dalet classrooms were buzzing with innovation and excitement for their Design Thinking Sustainability inventions!
The students have been hard at work brainstorming ways to help solve problems with regard to sustainability.
They put ideas into action by creating an invention that would help solve the problems at hand.
Kitah Gan shares their Noah's Ark projects.
A Kitah Gimel student explains the Lego arm he built in STEAM class where they are learning about biometrics and prosthetics.
