Message from the Head of School
What images and sounds come to your mind when you think about these days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. When I close my eyes, I hear the haunting melody of Kol Nidre played on a cello while all of the past presidents of my congregation stand on the bima and hold the many congregational Torahs. For me, that is the moment each year when I feel most connected to my Jewish identity and the Jewish people. Read more

Students in Action
BIG DAY IN CLASS MAKING OOBLECK - What is it? Is it a Liquid? Is it a solid? How does Oobleck relate to Yom Kippur? Alef Scientists and Detectives at work:
Kitah Alef heard the story of ‘Bartholemew & The Oobleck by Dr. Suess’. The story of an entitled King who wanted some new kind of weather. It turned out that his new weather was Oobleck! Oobleck created havoc for the kingdom and hurt many people including the King. Eventually the King listened to his page, Bartholemew, and apologized to everyone and he had to say he was sorry and that it was all his fault.
Kitah Bet received their mealworms and have been busy caring for and observing them. Students are taking notes, drawing the insects in science journals and are writing creative stories about their mealworms.
Thank you to all of the room parents for coordinating recent materials distribution, including the mealworms in Kitah Bet.
Kitah Gan has been discussing families and communities and where we live with our families and the environment around us. They heard stories about imaginary/fantasy houses. They read books about houses from around the world and about how they’re built. They learned about the different parts of a tree and why trees are so important to animals and people. They drew and built houses using items collected from around homes and made trees with parts of trees collected outside.
Middle School students in the Wearable Tech elective class finished their first project: an electric bookmark that will help them read at night.
In the Middle School Kitchen Chemistry elective, students are discovering how they can prove the changes in air pressure with the changes in temperature. Their kitchens are becoming a great source of science.
We love seeing our students in action in their virtual learning classrooms. Share your learning moments and captions for our media and yearbook by emailing
