City Update

July 20, 2022

Hastings Bridge Work Begins August 1

MnDOT to Begin Hwy 61 Bridge Work

Beginning at 6 a.m., Monday, August 1, southbound Highway 61 will be reduced to a single lane over the Mississippi River between Highway 10 and Fourth Street, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Once crews complete work on the southbound side of Highway 61, on approximately August 10, northbound Highway 61 will be reduced to a single lane in the same area to complete the project.

These lane closures are needed as crews resurface the bridge deck as part of scheduled maintenance on the bridge.

*Note the MRB trail adjacent to the bridge will also be closed weekdays while work is completed on northbound Highway 61.

All lanes are expected to reopen by August 20, 2022.

For updated road condition information, call 511 or visit www.511mn.org.

Heed the Watering Rules in the Heat

Door Hangers Distributed for Water Conservation

City of Hastings staff are placing door hangers on the homes of those who are in violation of the City's watering ordinance. The hangers outline the City's watering rules. As a reminder, odd-even day lawn sprinkling, based on a resident's address, is in effect from May 15 to September 1 of each year. An updated watering ordinance that went into effect this year also prohibits lawn watering between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. This was done to conserve the City's water supply.
