Haunted Hayrides

Bone-chilling thrills abound on these spooky fun-filled hayrides on the trail at Eaton Preserve 5 to 9 p.m., this Friday and Saturday. Non-scary rides are offered 5 to 6 p.m., each night, and cost $10. Scary rides are 7 to 9 p.m. and cost $15. Day-of registration is available if spots are open.

Eaton Preserve CLOSED 10/18 - 10/21

Eaton Preserve will be closed beginning 7 a.m., Wednesday through Saturday night to prepare for Haunted Hayrides and the Spooky Sprint Fun Run. Eaton Preserve will re-open Sunday morning.

Volunteers Needed!

Spooky Sprint

Enjoy a one-mile themed run around Eaton Preserve this Saturday! Race kicks off at 10:31 a.m. Participants receive a shirt and swag bag that includes a unique, event-themed giveaway along with some other cool items. All runners MUST be registered one month prior to the start of their run to be guaranteed their shirt size.

Best of Will County

The Plainfield Park District was recently chosen the BEST park district in the 2023 Herald-News Best of Will County Readers’ Choice Awards. The District was also chosen as one of the best in family recreation. The Park District will be honored at the Best of Will County Readers’ Choice Winners Celebration scheduled for November 28 at the Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet.

Van Horn Woods Dog Park CLOSED

The Van Horn Woods East Dog Park is temporarily CLOSED due to construction/renovation. We hope to have the dog park re-opened as soon as possible.

Parent Tot Sports

Burn off your 3-4-year-old's excess energy at the next session of Parent Tot Sports, running 4:15 to 5 p.m., Tuesdays, October 24 through December 19 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Participants develop hand-eye coordination and simple motor skills such as catching, throwing, batting, shooting and passing.

Youth Basketball Leagues

Registration is OPEN for the Park District's youth basketball leagues for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Enrollment is limited, so register early.

FREE Use of Indoor Track

The indoor track at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center is now FREE to all residents from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday! Those interested in using the track must show proof of residency (driver’s license, state identification, etc.). Track is open to ages 12 and up. Ages 12-13 must be with a parent/guardian. Strollers are not allowed on the track.

NEW! Indoor Soccer League

This NEW indoor soccer league is for ages 3-17 and takes place on turf at the Go Pro Dome, located nearby in Minooka. Games are played on reduced sized fields to aid in player development. There is no practice; games only. Game times do not conflict with Plainfield Park District youth basketball league game times for each grade level. Registration deadline is December 15 or until full.

NEW! Indoor Flag Football League

Enjoy all the positive aspects of football without the physical risks in this NEW indoor flag football league for ages 7-9 and 9-11. Participants develop skill position fundamentals along with sportsmanship, strategy, teamwork, self-control and self-discipline while competing and having fun! League plays 6v6 with a maximum of 12 players per team. Registration deadline is December 15 or until full. League takes place on turf at the Go Pro Dome, located nearby in Minooka.
