Haunted Pony Rides

We have a few spots left for our Haunted Pony Rides this Sunday at Normantown Equestrian Center! Our friendly horses will be decked out in their finest Halloween costumes, ready to take you on a ghoulishly fun ride! Rides last 10 minutes and helmets are provided for safety. Don’t miss out on this spooky adventure!

Grinchmas on the Green

Celebrate the season and experience Village Green aglow with holiday lights and sights at the annual Grinchmas on the Green November 30.

Schedule:

4:30PM – Free hot cocoa & cookies (while supplies last) under the pavilion

5PM – Santa and the Grinch arrive with transportation provided by the Plainfield Fire Protection District.

5:15PM – Santa and the Grinch light up the giant Village Green Christmas tree

5:30PM – Photo opportunities with Santa and the Grinch in Whoville (tennis court)

Preseason Basketball Camp

Basketball season is just around the corner! Are you ready to elevate your game? Our dedicated staff has a lineup of fun drills and games designed to sharpen your skills and boost your confidence. Join us for our preseason camps, open to boys and girls in grades 3-8 running November 3 through December 8.

Pints for Parks

Spots are filling fast for the Inaugural Pints for Parks event set for 6 to 9 p.m., November 14 at the Werk Force Barrel Den. Proceeds from the event benefit the scholarship fund for the Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation. Included in admission are two drink tickets, a raffle ticket, and a catered dinner.

4-Month Track Pass

Get your steps for only $10 a month! Four-month track pass memberships at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center (PARC) are now on sale through November 10. The pass is $40 and valid for four months from day of purchase. Memberships grant access to the elevated indoor walking track and locker room. Purchase your pass at PARC.

Pickleball/Tennis Court Nets

Just a friendly reminder that our tennis and pickleball nets will be taken down for the season on October 31. Make sure to get your last games in before then! Thank you for a fantastic season! 

Winter Indoor Soccer at Aux Sable

Registration is now open for the winter indoor soccer/futsal league running January 18 through March 8 at Aux Sable Middle School, 2001 Wildspring Parkway in Joliet. This league for grades K-5 teaches players the rules of the game, develops skills, teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship, and provides an opportunity for fun.

NRPA Gold Medal

The Plainfield Park District brought a finalist medal home to Plainfield! While we didn’t win the grand plaque this time at the National Recreation & Park Association Annual Conference held Oct. 8-10, we are honored to have been a finalist for the second straight year for the 2024 National Gold Medal Awards in Parks and Recreation Management.

Youth Basketball League

Registration is OPEN for our youth basketball league! Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Enrollment in the winter is limited, so register early. Registration is done by grade. Register your child for the grade they are in for the current school year. Registration deadline is November 8.

For the second straight year, the Plainfield Park District was chosen the BEST park district in the 2024 Herald-News Best of Will County Readers’ Choice Awards. The Park District will be honored at the Best of Will County Readers’ Choice Winners Celebration scheduled for December 9 at the Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet.
