Haunted Pony Rides

Our horses are dressed up in their best Halloween costumes and waiting for you to take a ride! Rides last for 10 minutes and helmets are provided. Don't forget to bring you camera to snap some great pictures! Registration is required.

Grinchmas on the Green

Celebrate the season and experience Village Green aglow with holiday lights and sights at the annual Grinchmas on the Green November 25. Free hot cocoa and cookies are available beginning at 4 p.m. (while supplies last). Santa and the Grinch arrive via the Plainfield Fire Protection District at approximately 5 p.m., and light the giant Village Green Christmas tree at 5:15 p.m. Photos follow in Whoville (tennis court) until approximately 7 p.m.

Purchase your Grinchmas Tree

Purchase a tree to decorate for our annual Grinchmas on the Green tree lighting ceremony at Village Green Park. Trees are set-up with lights for you to decorate before the Grinch arrives to help light our 30-foot tree. Limited trees are available.

Can't Catch Me Fun Run

Enjoy a one-mile themed run around Village Green, which is decorated with holiday lights and sights November 25. Stick around after the race for the Grinchmas on the Green event. Participants receive a shirt and swag bag that includes a unique, event-themed giveaway along with some other cool items.

Youth Basketball Leagues

Registration is OPEN for the Park District's youth basketball leagues for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Enrollment is limited, so register early.

NEW! High School Basketball League

This new league for ages 14-18 is for students who did not have the opportunity to play in high school. Teams play a seven game regular season with a playoff game the last day. Players register individually or as a team. Email Brad Keene at keene@plfdparks.org to register as a team..

Preseason Basketball Camp

With basketball season right around the corner, let us help you get ready! Whether you are playing for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, our staff puts athletes through various skills and mini games to get them ready for the upcoming season. Camp is for boys and girls in grades three through eight and runs Sundays, November 5 through December 17.

FREE Use of Indoor Track

The indoor track at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center is now FREE to all residents from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday! Those interested in using the track must show proof of residency (driver’s license, state identification, etc.). Track is open to ages 12 and up. Ages 12-13 must be with a parent/guardian. Strollers are not allowed on the track.

NEW! Indoor Soccer League

This NEW indoor soccer league is for ages 3-17 and takes place on turf at the Go Pro Dome, located nearby in Minooka. Games are played on reduced sized fields to aid in player development. There is no practice; games only. Game times do not conflict with Plainfield Park District youth basketball league game times for each grade level. Registration deadline is December 15 or until full.

NEW! Indoor Flag Football League

Enjoy all the positive aspects of football without the physical risks in this NEW indoor flag football league for ages 7-9 and 9-11. Participants develop skill position fundamentals along with sportsmanship, strategy, teamwork, self-control and self-discipline while competing and having fun! League plays 6v6 with a maximum of 12 players per team. Registration deadline is December 15 or until full. League takes place on turf at the Go Pro Dome, located nearby in Minooka.
