The Joint Commission Releases New Life Safety Code Business Occupancy Requirements
The Joint Commission has released new expectations related to the Life Safety Code for Business Occupancy. These new requirements take effect July 1, 2021, for organizations accredited through their Hospital, Critical Access Hospital and Behavioral Health and Human Services programs. These standards address fire safety and means of egress during fire emergencies. This marks the first time that Life Safety Requirements will be applicable to Business Occupancies during the accreditation process.Read more.
Kimothy Sparks is an Associate Consultant with over 25 years of experience in healthcare quality, risk, and patient safety. He is responsible for assessing healthcare organizations' readiness for licensing, accreditation, and regulatory compliance, and has assisted multiple organizations in achieving Joint Commission Accreditation. He received an Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Juris Doctorate from The Appalachian School of Law. Sandeep Goel Leads Courtemanche & Associates into the Next Decade!
After dedicating nearly three decades to patient safety and quality in healthcare, Judy Courtemanche, founder of Courtemanche & Associates Healthcare Regulatory Consulting firm. is retiring and the company will have a new owner, President & CEO at the helm!
We are excited to introduce Sandeep Goel as the new President and owner of Courtemanche & Associates, a SAYAS Alliance, Inc. company, based in Conroe, Texas. With more than 25 years of business leadership and quality management experience across multiple industries, Sandeep has been a strong advocate for advancing environmental, health and safety performance by embedding these into an organization's foundation and culture.
Over his career, Sandeep has led quality improvement programs focused on policies, standards, and processes. He has worked closely with many organizations to launch new products and services ensuring regulatory compliance. He has formed partnerships to increase industry awareness by sharing best practices through speaking events, webinars, and newsletter publications. Most recently, he was an active board member for a nationally recognized association that develops accreditation and certification guidelines.
Sandeep has dual undergraduate degrees in Biology and Engineering along with a minor in Psychology. He also has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University with a concentration in Strategy, Finance, Marketing and Organizational Behavior.
Judy wishes to thank all our healthcare colleagues for their support and ongoing business over her 27 years.
