16th Sunday after Pentecost

Sermon Title: "Have You Been with Jesus?"

Sacred Text: Acts 4:5-20

Worship (in-person and online): 11:15 AM

A Word from Ray

Throughout the gospels, there are countless examples of lives changed after they have had an encounter with Jesus. In the Scripture reading we are reminded of how lives continue to be changed, even after Jesus completed his earthly ministry. Even today, lives continue to be transformed. The question being asked this Sunday is "Have YOU been with Jesus?" Those that have can identify how their life has been impacted. How has your life changed?

Blessings,

Rev. Ray

Upcoming Activities

In worship over the next month, we are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15). We are looking for individuals to read the scripture in Spanish. If you are able to help with this, contact [email protected].

Join us in the Fellowship Hall each Sunday from 10:30-11 am for coffee and refreshments! If it's your week to bring something to share, our Hospitality Team would greatly appreciate it.

The Jesus Challenge

September 25th, October 2nd and 9th

at 9:30 am

Following Jesus Christ is challenging because belief requires something of us. Being a practitioner of love means we have to learn how to love God more intentionally, love our neighbors (and figure out who they are), and forgive our enemies. This four-week class will equip you to take next steps on that journey. Join us each Sunday morning at 9:30 am for 1 hour as we examine how we can learn to better love God, love neighbor, and love our enemy. You can register for this class by signing up in the lobby or send an email to [email protected].

Starting this Sunday through October 9th, we are selling King of Peace T-shirts again. They were such a hit at Pride, we want to make sure that everyone at Come Out St. Pete sees the same message. In case you didn't know it, "God Thinks You're Fabulous!" T-shirts are $18, and standard men's sizes. You can pay cash or check in the back on Sunday, or if you want to pay by credit/debit card, contact the church office at 727-323-5857, or email [email protected].

St. Francis knew that all God's critters got a place in the choir! So bring your four-legged, feathered, or finned children to our annual Blessing of the Animals, in honor of the Feast of St. Francis. On Saturday, October 1st, at 10 am, we'll join at King of Peace for a time of giving thanks to God for our pets and praying blessings over them for all the unconditional love and joy they are to us!

If you are an early riser, join us for our monthly Breakfast Club on October 13th at 9 am. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at Parkside Cafe (8180 49th St. N., Pinellas Park). This is a great way to meet others from King of Peace, and get your day started! All are welcome.

We will offer our next Membership Class on Sunday, October 23rd following worship. (Lunch will be provided.) If you want to know more about being a member of King of Peace, you should sign up to attend. You can sign up in the foyer or email [email protected].

The Florida Network of MCC churches is offering a live panel discussion about Monkeypox via Zoom. If you'd like to be a part of this discussion on Monday, October 17th at 7 pm, click here to RSVP. All are welcome to attend.

Research on LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Church

Are you an adult (18 years or older) member of King of Peace who identifies as LGBTQ+? If so, please consider participating in a research study being conducted by Dr. Megan Yost, a professor at Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA). The purpose is to learn about LGBTQ+ people who have found a home in a welcoming congregation, because most other research on this topic has examined LGBTQ people who have left churches due to experiences with sexual prejudice, and never returned. Dr. Yost is looking for at least 16 more people from MCC to take the survey. To learn more about the study and for the survey link, please see a video at https://tinyurl.com/3B3SRWAY or written information at https://tinyurl.com/2P93XY5T

To take the survey, you can click here.

Do you know of anyone within our congregation who might need some congregational care or for us to offer their name in prayer during Sunday service? If so, please email [email protected].
