Onguma Safari Camps shares two key updates this month: the introduction of the new Onkolo Soundscapes experience and the release of the 2027 rates. The Soundscapes launch adds a new dimension to the Onkolo Hide experience, and the release of the 2027 rates to support accurate planning and communication.

Introducing the Onkolo Soundscapes Experience

There is a particular stillness on the eastern edge of Etosha — a quiet that reveals more the longer one sits with it.

At Onguma Nature Reserve, the team has always believed the bush speaks to those willing to listen. Now, for the first time in Namibia, they have found a way to amplify that experience.

The new soundscape activity at the Onkolo Hide uses purpose‑designed microphones to capture and enhance the natural acoustics of the reserve — birdsong, footsteps, wingbeats, and the subtle movements around the waterhole, drawn in from hundreds of meters away.

The network of sensitive microphones are discreetly and strategically positioned around the water-level Onkolo Hide, the system captures and amplifies the living soundscape of the surrounding bushveld far beyond what the human ear alone can detect. The result is an intimate, sensory-first encounter that changes the way guests experience the African bush entirely.

  • To share a full guest-perspective account of the experience with your clients, read Onguma's latest blog post here.

The experience is particularly well suited to birders, photographers, and guests seeking something more mindful and immersive alongside their standard game drive program.
