ARTALE FOOD & WINE TRIP TO SPAIN
October 3rd -11th 2024
Ralph Velasco is a Rockford resident who has been organizing and leading tours around the world for more than 15 years (and his trips are all 5-star rated). He has a more than 50 percent client repeat rate and group sizes range from just 6 - 10 participants maximum.
Rest assured that the main focus of these incredible trips is the food, wine, spirits, and other historical and natural highlights of each of the places he visits, as is meeting the locals and being immersed in the authentic culture.
Accommodations are in unique properties such as a private 11th-century castle in France's Dordogne; a former private family villa in the Spanish hilltown of Laguardia in the Rioja region; and/or a gorgeous wine estate in the Douro Valley or boutique hotel in the center of Porto, Portugal.

BLiS 100% Pure Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrel Matured
SALE $19.99 Reg. $22.99
To create our Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup, we start with 100% pure maple syrup harvested from old-growth Michigan maple orchards. This incredibly robust, small-batch maple syrup is kettle-cooked before being aged in hand-selected, 18-year-old Kentucky Bourbon barrels. After months of gentle maturation, the result is an elegant and complex maple syrup unlike any other.
On the palate, you’ll find deep notes of charred oak, Kentucky bourbon, and baking spice, which are balanced perfectly by sweetly delicate aromas of honey and vanilla.
WhistlePig Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup
SALE $24.99 Reg. $27.99
In partnership with Runamok Maple, we've aged our syrup for up to twelve months, yielding notes of toffee and Rye spice that mingle with the rich and robust maple syrup. The result is heavenly in an old-fashioned cocktail, on pancakes or poured over ice cream.

The Perfect Holiday Gift:
Artale Single Barrel Bourbons
| |
|
Have that one person in your life that seems to have every bottle of whiskey out there? Our hand selected single barrel bourbons are perfect for that person. We take the time to work directly with distilleries and select our own single barrels that are a reflection of our palate preferences and are only available at our store. While we don't like to brag, but our single barrels have quite the following with our customers and always appeal to whiskey aficionados because they are bottles that can never be reproduced, true one off items. Come by and sample one or all of our picks and find the perfect bottle for the whiskey drinker who has almost everything.
Jeppson's Artale & Laurent House Kentucky Single Barrel Bourbon
$49.99
At 6+ years, this barrel has a pronounced caramelized sweetness that really stands out as the main tasting and aroma note. Sturdy oak, baking spices, cherry, and vanilla all follow and linger on the palate. Weighing in at 60.3% abv (120.6 proof) this barrel is a quite a few proof points dialed back from our previous Kentucky Jeppson's barrel which really allows the lighter sweetness and spice to shine through.
Watershed Artale Single Barrel Bourbon
$62.99
This Watershed pick just screams classic American Bourbon. Notes of savory wood and rye spice lead the way. Vanilla, citrus, nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon all come in waves on the nose and palate. An oily texture leads to a long finish of dried fruits and toffee. The custom #5 char that Watershed uses adds a ton of barrel character while still allowing the base spirit to shine. Weighing in at a hefty 130.8 proof, this barrel is bold and loaded with complex flavors. Adding a splash of water softens the wood tannins and balances out the heat for a lower octane drinking experience. However you drink your bourbon, this Watershed pick will deliver a classic profile.
Laws Whiskey House Artale Single Barrel Bourbon
$79.99
Bottled cask strength at a notch over 112 proof, this wheated bourbon is 60% corn, 20% wheat, 10% rye, and 10% malted barley. Laws exclusively uses heirloom varietal grains for their whiskey, sourced between two family-owned Colorado farms: the Cody’s in the San Luis Valley and the Ohnmacht’s out on Colorado’s eastern plains. This barrel is an exceptional singular representation of their Four Grain Straight Bourbon that showcases notes of orange peel, black tea, honey, cinnamon, sherry, malted chocolate balls, pressed apples, and leather.
Coppercraft Artale Single Barrel Bourbon
$94.99
On the nose, orange rind and cherry jam lead the way with the classic MGP rye spice and aged oak quickly following. Caramel, butterscotch pudding, and bananas foster give decadent aromas while white pepper balances it all out. The first sip is waves of baking spices, white tea, orange, apple, citrus, and vanilla. The dessert character lingers on the palate and meshes perfectly with the older oak presence. A full bodied viscosity coats the palate but is not too heavy, allowing all the underlying flavors to shine on the palate long after drinking. The 110.58 proof is so well hidden in all areas of this outstanding dram.

In terms of overall weather, most of the 2020 growing season was excellent. Following a relatively dry winter, budbreak started early, and the temperatures throughout spring and summer were mild and temperate. This allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, developing pure, vibrant flavors and supple, fleshy textures. In late September, harvest was impacted by the outbreak of wildfires and the arrival of hot weather. The elevated temperatures gave many vineyards a final push to ripeness as we worked to bring in the grapes. During this period, we did extensive testing to ensure quality, excluding any fruit that did not meet our standards. While our meticulous selection process resulted in a smaller 2020 crop, the wines we produced live up to the Duckhorn name, displaying beautiful aromas, soft elegant textures, lively complexity and lush flavor.

ANCHOR CHRISTMAS: TWILIGHT CRUISE | |
|
For a decade we've squirrelled away a little bit from each year's release of Anchor Brewing's "Our Special Ale" Christmas beer. These 10 years barely scratch the surface of a history that spans almost 50 consecutive releases. With the unfortunate news this year of Anchor's closing after 127 years, it's time for us to see our collection off to calmer waters - a finale voyage of sorts. In the Navy it's known as a twilight cruise.
Keep your eyes peeled the next time you stroll through the beer aisle for a variety of vintages ranging from 2012 to 2022. We have a few of some, and a little more of others, but overall, these bottles are very limited in quantity and will be sold in-store only as single bottles.
We may even decide to open up one of each for tasting next week. Who knows! If we do, we will be sure to announce it on our Artale Beer Feed Instagram page.
